Thank you ?

I interview for NICU & PP one week apart. They both were a bit different so Tele might be different.

Tell me about yourself?

Tell me your strengths and your weaknesses.

Why PP? Why NICU?

Something along the lines of, you’re taking care of a patient and the mom was upset with you being to rough with the baby. How would you handle this situation? FOR NICU

For NICU: The position is for a night shift. We tend to get nurses who come in with the idea they will be able to change to day shift in a year but in NICU it’ll be like 5 years into you can go to days. How do you feel about this?

FOR PP: How do you feel about the commute?

How do you feel about questioning  the Dr?

A time when you took a leadership role

FOR NICU: We do pre scheduling and there will be times the days you pre scheduled yourself will be change. How would you handle the case this happens to you?

FOR PP: What does work ethic mean to you? How would I know you are doing a good job (something along those lines)

TIPS:

Practice and prepare in advance; research the hospital.

Walk in there with confidence  and with the mindset you are worth $50,000 ( got this from a Youtube video) because that’s about how much it cost to train a new grad. This did help with my confidence too. Pray too ?

Thank them for their valuable time that they took out of their busy schedule to meet with you. Express so much gratitude.

Ask at least two questions. I was taught to stay away from selfish questions such as pay, nurse patient ratio, etc.

Also, I forgot to mention. Both departments  asked where do you see yourself in 5 years from now.

has anyone had an interview recently? I'm interviewing for periop and was wondering if someone had tips? ?

I interviewed two weeks ago and was offered one of the new grad L&D positions.

Some interview tips: Go in there confident! It helps you seem poised and professional. They asked questions such as: “Name a recent difficult situation you had had and how you handled it.” “How do you feel about change?” “What do you look for in a leader?” “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?” “Have you participated in any committees or taken on any leadership positions?” Even if the answer is no, try to spin it to your advantage. Something along the lines of “Unfortunately I haven’t been afforded the opportunity to join any committees in my career just yet. However, I have always wanted to be a part of one and am constantly looking for a chance to demonstrate my leadership skills in spearheading changes and helping others acclimate to new changes as well.”

Congratulations! I will be starting in postpartum soon. How’s the pre-boarding going? Went for physical this past week. I’m waiting on my clearance.
