difficulty being a student again

I'm curious if anyone out there who is doing the LPN-RN is having difficulty transitioning back to a student? I'm slowly getting used to it, but the first couple of days, it was rough. It's hard to have to wait on an instructor to check and make sure I'm giving the proper med or hanging proper IV when I've been doing this on my own. I realize I just have to deal with it, but wondered if anyone else had difficulty at first.

I had a bit of a problem with that; oooooh, boy, did I! I had been an LPN for something like 15 years. Did a tx w/o the instructor being there. Never caught any grief, but she did want to see it.

Many other Transition students in your group?

actually, the whole class is transition, some might transfer to another campus next semester and join a traditional class in their second year. I figure I'll get used to it, hopefully........

I'm wondering if I will have trouble. LVN school was 16 years ago for me. We shall see

I liked being back in the classroom again learning in depth knowledge about disease process, but clinicals were bitter sweet. For nursing 4 I had an instuctor who was very laid back, If I ever had a question or needed her help she was always available. For nursing 5, my clinical instructor didn't want me to give the pt. water to drink if she wasn't present let alone pass pill or do treatment without her over shadowing me. Thank God thats over.

I have to say that I'm loving being in school. Oh yeah my time isn't my own and I'm always reading or writing for some class...but I love taking the courses. I've gone to school this past year and am now in my last prerequisite for the LPN to RN program. I even took Micro this summer and got a B!!! So do it. I know now I'll make it. I just wish I did it earlier hehe..cause I've been and LPN for 32 yrs!
