Different shifts in the ED

Specialties Emergency

Published

Hi all. I have an interview for an ED position next week, and don't know what shift(s) they have open. I know there are usually different shifts there vs. the standard 7-7 for floor nursing. Would any of you recommend one shift over another, and why?

Thanks ahead of time-

I just got offered a night shift. Right now I am on days (in med-surg). I am excited about the offer, but scared I won't be able to sleep during the day. Egads!

There are a lot of threads here about night shifters sleeping during the day, check them out. It is an adjustment and I remember when I worked my very first 7p-7a shift I was struggling to stay awake. After a few shifts, however, it was no problem.

11a-11p. Ur very busy the whole time and it goes by quickly. I also did the 3p-3a shift and liked it a lot too. The night shift diff was good

I love nights So MUCH! When my kids say "I have a thing at school, can you come?" the answer is always "yes!"
