Hi everyone! I'm a senior in high school and I know I want to eventually become a nurse practitioner and i want to know the difference between a BSN and a BS in health science because some of the schools i am looking at do not have BSN programs. Thankyou!

BSN = bachelor of science degree in nursing
BS in health sciences = bachelor of science degree with a major or concentration in health sciences
The BSN degree qualifies you to take the NCLEX-RN, and if you attain a passing result, you are licensed as a registered nurse.
The BS degree in health sciences has a more generalized curriculum and qualifies you for some entry level healthcare-related jobs that require a BS degree, such as pharmaceutical sales, biomedical research, or medical lab technology.
If you want to be a nurse practitioner, your best bet is to earn a BSN degree. The BS in health sciences will not qualify you to be a nurse, and the nurse practitioner role falls under the nursing model of care provision
