Diets Don't work!

OK I was asked to work on a program that would encourage healthy eating for my 6th graders. My take on this would be a lunch table that students would volunteer to sit at and we could talk about diets, health and wellness. With parental and school permission and approval!

I asked for more responsiblity and I got it...oh boy! :p

I was wondering if anyone had any insight on a ciriculum or teaching guide. I thought I would have a topic of the day and a short lesson and then have a round table type talk and q&a.

I did take a nutrition class in college, but thats it & I sure don't want to pass on my insecurities and bad habits!!!

Thanks in advance.

Search on google and you'll find all you want about healthy school lunches...probably more than you want...

There are a lot of really good government based sites that can get you started with a loose curriculum for teaching students about healthy diets and lifestyles. Most of it is really well done and separated out by age. Your idea of a lunch "round table" to discuss the topics you listed is a great idea.
