Hi,
I finished 77 questions on my recent NCLEX exam but I felt I didn't get to use the Kaplan strategies that much (maybe 4 to 5 questions). Did you attempt to use the strategies for every questions?

I felt like you did, I tried to use Kaplan but it seemed like it wouldn't work for most questions that I had. then again I guess that's why I failed cause the tree doesn't work on content questions.

I used the strategies for every question because it made me think in a different way from nursing school...like immediately going for abc answers...passed my NCLEX first try 75 questions and without the strategies I would have bomb the test cause I would have tried to answer the questions using real world answers and nursing school rather then the prefect world of NCLEX!
Th
anks for sharing your thoughts. How did you use Kaplan strategies for question such as
choosing wrong oral care items for a cancer patient with stomatitis: 1, lemon glycerin swab
2, baking soda
3, prescribed mouth wash
4, prescribed lidocaine

Kaplan strategies can be helpful ie applying ABC's, Maslows, Physical vs Psychosocial
BUT sometimes those rules don't apply and all you can ask yourself is this..."What IS the BEST outcome?"
Kaplan worked for me honestly but you have to read the stem of the question and see what the answers are telling you. Sometimes you honestly cannot do the whole ABCs thing and all you gotta do is rely on your knowledge and judgement.
For the question you are asking, you need to know the content of cancer and stomatitis and what items are prescribed and are not and why and you will get your answers.
Thanks a little
Sorry for the wrong typing. I meant thank youa lot.
