Did anyone apply for San Mateo College's RN fall 2017?

Nursing Students School Programs

Hi! Did anyone else apply for the RN program for 2017 at San Mateo College?

Thanks for the 411 :cheeky:

Which school is lottery? I know for sure ohlone is based on points. Merrit does lottery? I thought it was merit based too? Good luck with your journey. Maybe I see you at Ohlone *fingers crossed*

I believe they are all "merrit based" then top 1/3 or whatever get put into a lottery.

Does anyone know if people on wiatlist still has a chance? Thanks :)

What number are you on the wait list? Make sure you go to the orientation on May 12. I'm sure they will give more detailed info then. You have a great chance of getting in since CSM was the first school to send out notices, at least in the Bay area. I am still waiting to hear back from 3 other programs myself. Good luck :nailbiting:

We are supposed to hear from Chabot the week of April 30 and Ohlone and Merrit mid May! :-) Wish I applied to San Mateo. If I don't make this lottery I will def apply there next round!

Got my letter from Chabot today. I'm alternate #47:wtf:... Debating if I should accept the wait list spot. Hopefully you got good news!

HI! Yes I will be attending orientation. At first I thought it would only be for those accpeted into the program, but I guess it for all of the top 90. I'm still waiting to hear from other programs as well.

Hi everyone! For those who went to orientation, for the yellow "REQUIRED PHYSICAL EVALUATION, IMMUNIZATION & LAB TESTS" form, who signs the "phone and address" part. I am confused if it me who has to sign it or my physican.

I believe it's your physician.

Hey guys! I'm new to the thread and I'm just wondering where are you guys all commuting from? I'm coming from Redwood City.

Hey! Thank you. Well, I guess I will just white it out. I'm communting from San Francisco.

Hi guys,

Do we have to show full immunity before starting the program? I am worried because my doctor is making me go through the whole 3 series shot for HB and this is from 0, 1, 6 months. I already had the shots from when I was younger though. As for the titers, I have to get retested after my booster shots. Will this affect my ability to start clinicals? Has anyone been in my position or knows what can happen? I hope I'm just overthinking this because this has been stressing me out.

Thank you in advanced.

HepB series shots plus the titer is required. Its probably the most essential vaccination especially when you go into clinical sites because its a blood-borne pathogen. Usually, it wont affect your ability to start as long as you are "in the process: of getting your series. I suggest getting it done ASAP - you'll need for any nursing program you get into.
