Has anyone taken Developmental Psychology (Psych 3310) at UTA? If so, can you please give me some details about how the class works and how much time is involved? I'm taking a pretty heavy course load this fall and want to be prepared.
Thanks in advance for your help :)

I am currently in it right now with a week left. Currently my grade is a B but I am hoping once the extra credit is added I can pull it off with an A. There is alot of reading. I have to read the entire chapter in order to be prepared for the test. There are also lecture notes and sometimes videos, but honestly I only read the text. There are also practice test which for me is helpful. It's not a hard class and there is no discussion other than the extra credit discussion which is optional. If you can read the chapters and take the test then you should be fine. I do know that the final is comprehensive but of course I don't know how difficult it will be. Hope this helps some.
I took a look at the syllabus for that class. There are only 22 questions on each quiz? Wow. How long is each chapter? If they are long chapters, those 22 questions could come from anywhere! I didn't see where it listed any "extra credit" though. The only thing I saw was that you could participate in the discussion posts and have it replace two of your quiz grades if you wanted, but it was entirely optional.
The class structure sounded a lot like Sociology at UTA, but the discussion posts were not optional, and we had more tests.
What classes are you taking in the Fall? Any at UTA?
I apologize for the mis information, you are correct. The discussions are not really extra credit but they can be substituted. I looked at them like extra credit since they are optional. You are correct in saying that the questions can come from anywhere but what I have noticed is that the questions are usually in order of the chapter..bascially Question #1 would be in the beginning of the chapter and so on. I missed a quiz and did poorly on one due to my son breaking his arm and me having to take time away from my studies. Even so I have a low B average right now and that's not including the scores for the discussion questions so that will be even higher. I say that to say it's not a difficult course at all.
In the Fall I will be taking POL Government and HIST 2311. After that I will only have Patho and Pharm left. I was going to take one of those but honestly I need a mental break and I hear those courses are difficult. I am hoping to get accepted into TWU's weekend program at this point as I know UTA is seriously competative.
Thank you so much for the clarification. The information you gave me makes me feel a lot better about taking this class. I'm also taking Stats, Nutrition, Patho and Pharm all at the same time, so to say my 'plate is full' would be an understatement.
I completely understand about needing a mental break. I only took one class this summer after taking 17hrs in the Fall and another 14 hrs in the Spring. My brain was mush.
I was VERY happy to read in the syllabus that we didn't have to do a 'project' or write an essay for Dev. Psyc. Yay :)
ARe you taking Nutrition at UTA, I signed up but was kicked out due to the fact that I am going through the academic partnership program. I forgot to include Nutrition with the courses that I am taking but I am taking it at a Community College this Fall since UTA won't allow me to take it with them. Do they offer it online? If so I completely missed that.
OK wait a minute, are you saying that you signed up to take Nutrition on campus at UTA and got kicked out because you are an AP student?
I'm taking Nutrition at my local community college too, because UTA doesn't offer it online and I don't live in Arlington.
Yes, UTA kicked me out of the Nutrition course. I didn't know I couldn't take any courses that were not pertaining to completing the pre reqs required by UTA.
I signed up for the course and was allowed to do so and then a few days later received an email explaining to me that I wasn't allowed to take it as an Academic partnership student.
OMG, I'm still in shock. You are a student of the University. I had NO idea that we were not allowed to take ANY on campus classes either. That is ridiculous.

nutrition is not required according to what I read. at least for AP BSN
You are correct, it is not a requirement for UTA. But many other nursing programs require it. I am applying to other programs which is why I was trying to take it at UTA. I am currently taking it at TCCC.
