Nurses New Nurse

Published

I just graduated my ADN program, I have thought long and hard about it and I'm pretty sure that I am going to go right back to school full time and do the RN to BSN program, I most likely will not work because alot of hospitals dont want to hire a new grad only part time or PRN and I don't want to work full time along with school full time. Does anyone know anyone who has gone straight out of nursing school to get their bachelors and then found a job afterwards?

alot of people have told me its a good idea, I even asked the nsna about it but I have never heard of anyone who has actually done the RN to BSN without working

Just wanted to say that IMHO your plan would NOT mean career suicide. I did the same, essentially, and was able to apply to new grad RN positions because I was within so many months of getting my degree. Or had worked less than a year as a RN. I got a job....But...biggest pro to doing PT Bachelors while working....hospital will pay tuition reimbursement!! I did not have that option because I left d/t pregnancy/family reasons so could not continue with both work and school. I'd start applying and if you don't get any leads, just enroll in your program. Good Luck!

RN to BSN isn't that difficult while working, I am doing it right now and I work full time. Do not wait to finish BSN to start looking for a job, I would find a job first then start the BSN online. Once out of nursing school clinicals you kind of start to get rusty, so waiting isn't going to do you any good.

I think you would have a hard time finding a job if you didn't find work now. I have NEVER heard of anyone quitting while doing an RN-BSN.
