Depressed about student loans :(

Published

I started college in summer 2006. At that point I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. Now 5 years later, it will be seven years when I graduate in 2013 with my ADN, I will end up owing 37,000$ in student loans (this includes the interest that will accrue during that time frame). It makes me so depressed that I will owe that much money. I just wish I knew what career path I wanted to pursue 5 years ago. Is anyone in the same boat? How can I feel better about this situation? I forgot to mention I do have a previous associates degree in math and science, so the 37,000$ if for two degrees, not that it matters.

You guys w/ student loans need to be careful to make those payments. i'm pretty sure the Texas BON has rules about denying licensure to people who have defaulted on student loans and for those who are behind on child support. This is going to be a wake up call for some of my classmates who are in that boat.

I'm cruisin' in your boat.... ugh. We didn't get into this career for the money... but it certainly cost alot to get there!

hey,

i am about to graduate with 35 thousand in student loans and i count myself as lucky. find a job, which has signing bonuses or a student loan repayment program. get your experience and money and pay down the loans. at least as nurses, we can find jobs that will cover the student loans and the cost of living. the sacramento bee website recently had an article, which told you how long it would take to pay down student loans by major, and nursing majors, took less than 5 years to pay off student loans.

good luck and remember,

it could be far, far worse!
