Depressed LVN

Published

I graduated Nursing school in Aug 2013 and took my nclex Feb 2014. I passed nclex the first try and have had my License until now without a job. I live in Long Beach, CA and I apply everywhere. I fear my License will expire before I even get a job. HELP! Did I waste my money? I'm paying students loans on a career I feel isn't worth it. I'm so discouraged, I have a great heart and I am smart. I know I will make a good nurse if someone just gives me a chance. I apply everywhere, I spend countless hours at the library applying and I am just getting more discouraged by the day.

Best way to start is to go through home health (for the experienced). There are a lot of home health listings online. Good Luck!

Think positive, apply. Along with resume bring at least 2 letters of recommendation. Have confidence in your self. I'm in inland empire, graduated at same time you did. My first job started May 2014, my second job and hopefully the one I'll retire from started April 2015. I'm a full time LVN at Kaiser, and super proud of my self. Always pray, God will is always listening. Good luck.

I just checked EdJoin.org and there are open positions for school site LVNs. I work in a beautiful area of CA and we use EdJoin to advertise when we need an LVN. Hardly anyone applies. Seriously. I don't get it -- with so many people looking for jobs.

Hi! Come here in LA we are looking for LVN

Don't be discouraged! I graduated in Canada as an LPN September 2013 and finally got my first job last month! I applied everywhere too and felt very discouraged at times but since I got my first job I have had 3 other opportunities present themselves as well! I couldn't believe it. I had nothing for so long and then all of a sudden I had my choice of jobs. The one thing I changed was that I began to apply in person. Shaking hands and making eye contact really does make more of an impact then a resume. I even went back to places that had denied me an interview in the past and told them I was still interested. It worked! They gave me a second chance. Don't give up, all you need is one open door. Good luck!

Have you looked into places you attend in your personal life such as doctors, etc? The reason I say this is because in may I had a visit to my GI doctor for lab test and in the bed with hospital gown and all I asked Are You Hiring? I met the boss and they said when I'm finish come back. You will find something soon. Hang in there :)

hi did u find a job yet there are a lot of places hiring new grads in California keep ur options open. I saw a lot of opening on Indeed.com just today.

If you want to work as a nurse, I would definitely consider moving. Either farther north to the sacramento area or completely out of state. Texas seems to be a hot spot for LPN's, as well as Florida.

My sister graduated in May with her BSN from California State and finally decided to move back here (Virginia) in the beginning of August because she could NOT find a job. She had a job within two weeks. Does she miss cali? Yes. but she wanted a job and steady paycheck a lot more!

It's rough for nurses in california.
