DePaul's MENP... so what's the title you graduate with?

Published

Hello all,

So, I recently got into DePaul's MENP (Master's in Entry Level Nursing Program), but I am not sure if I accepted the right school for my future plans. I am confused with what your licensure or title is after you graduate from DePaul's MENP. Anyone have any idea? Is there any difference in pay from a BSN? Is this program a Master's in Nursing like Rush's GEM program? Any input would be extremely helpful!!

*My future goal is to end up as a NP*

Specializes in NICU, ICU, PICU, Academia.

Registered Nurse* is your title. There is no difference in pay.

My personal opinion is not favorable toward these expensive  entry-level degrees and prospective students do not fully comprehend the ROI.

*assuming you pass NCLEX

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Same "title" as a community college ASN graduate - registered nurse, assuming you pass the NCLEX, but with significantly more debt I would imagine. Most people I know who have done a direct entry MSN are also paid the same as other new grads, too. You may ultimately realize a benefit, but it's going to be much later.

And the same title, Registered Nurse, as those few and far between graduates of diploma nursing programs who pass NCLEX-RN.  More than likely, though, a difference might be found in the diploma graduate's desire to care for sick people at the bedside.
