DePaul's MENP Fall 2011

Published

Has anyone else applied to DePaul's MENP program for the Fall 2011 term? If so, has anyone heard back from them?

I guess I should just email them and find out. I know for a lot of nursing majors they just have you take the survey to organic but I'm not sure if they'll except that. Also I'm having a hard time finding inorganic anywhere but UIC which requires you to take a wholllleee lot of chem before ever being able to enroll.

Will you be done with A&P I and II before the fall or just the first one?

I had already taken physiology, so I am only taking the remaining semester of anatomy now. I'll be done in may.

I'm somewhat confused about inorganic chem. I just talked to the NP that recommended that I apply, and she seemed to think inorganic was just regular chemistry is that true? I can't seem to find any class called inorganic chemistry even at DePaul.

Shes right....inorganic chemistry is General Chemistry I, II, III at DePaul. Semester schools have General/Inorganic Chem I and II.

Also...you have to take Gen/Inorganic Chem before you take Organic Chem. Its the prereq. It was like that at DePaul, and I know UIC and Loyola had the same format.

Although, it is kind of exciting knowing they are actually looking at the apps now. I wish it was April already lol so we can start hearing back. *fingers crossed*

anyone see this post??? they just got accepted, and it was posted on march 14th???

hey all,

i've applied to both of these traditional msn/fnp programs as i am already a bsn, rn. i just got accepted to depaul's program. i am having trouble finding a lot of good information on the website, i've left a message with the academic adviser in an attempt to gain more information to make an educated decision.

i had an interview with uic which i thought went very well, but you never know as they had a lot of people for only 30 or so seats!

i want to know if anyone here attends either of these *traditional* programs and how they like it?

does anyone attend either of these part time and work full time? (this is what i plan to do but i'm not finding any part time information on depaul)

i know uic matches you to a clinical site so you don't go out looking for your own, how are depaul's clinical sites?

i know uic has a lot of classes online, but how about depaul?

i understand that people say uic is cheaper but i don't see how that is true, based on my calculations since they do per year tuition depending on a range of credit hours, it seems as if uic will cost around 50k. currently depaul is 43k (but im sure the $$/credit hour will increase throughout the years).

uic has a set tuition/year - will that include any classes taken in the summer semesters as well?

sorry for the many questions, i've attempted contacting both institutions but they are closed at this hour it seems. and also looking for just some personal insight from anyone who did these programs.

thanks in advance!

Yikes...apparently someone has gotten a decision already:

Correct!

The person in that post said they already have their BSN, RN and they were applying to MSN/FNP (family nurse practitioner I assume). That means they applied to the traditional master's at DePaul...and I am (and I was assuming that you all are too) applying to the master's entry to nursing practice program. So that isn't necessarily a bad sign that they've already gotten a response, its a different program all together so I wouldn't worry about it.

Ah! You are definitely right. I read that post in the middle of the night and apparently not closely enough, lol.

Yeah, I do think we should be hearing back pretty soon though. I felt a little bit more excited before I received that email from them about my prerequisites, but I'm still hoping they'll consider me since I've heard of them admitting people without 1-2 prereqs in the past. Does anyone have any idea about how many people normally apply to this program?
