Denver School of Nursing (DSN) April 2016

Published

Hi all! I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for those hoping to get into the April 2016 BSN cohort at DSN. It would also be nice to hear from past/current students on any questions that may pop up here.

Just yesterday I received an email inviting me to proceed with an interview. I'm beyond excited! From other threads I've read, it seems that if you are invited for an interview, you are basically in (as long as you pass the exam, background check, etc.)

I've wanted this for so long, I can hardly believe that it's happening! I hope to connect with more prospective and eventual students soon! Take care! :)

No comments on this thread yet, but hopefully it will become active as it gets closer to the April start date.

I'm had my interview on November 30th. I take the HESI exam on Jan. 6th. I'm not too nervous. I've gone through the study guide and taken a few practice tests. I can't believe we're almost through this year! April will be here before I'm ready, I'm sure.

I can't wait to meet the others in my cohort! Happy holidays!

I had my interview Dec 1st and still have to pass the HESI but I'm planning on being in the April 2016 cohort. I'm excited to see the schedule and how it's all going to be arranged but mostly I just want to get started and get into 2017 so I can see "the light at the end of the tunnel". Should be an experience. They said at the interview that each class size is around 100 students broken up into 3 or 4 subgroups.

Congratulations! That is so exciting. I can't wait to get started also! It's going to be a lot of work, but I'm sure the time will fly by. When do you take the HESI?

Congratulations to you on your acceptance... I am planning on the October 2016 cohort for Bsn completion.I have a bachelor's degree already. Can u tell me more about the interview process, and how long you had to wait after aplication deadline. I will be moving to Denver from texas . If you have any information on housing too pls share. I know I will definitely be needing a roommate. Hmmm to much expenses. ..

Thanks , I will be expecting your response.

stylistic - Jan 6th I think is my HESI, how about you?

Lizzy -

Interview process was more of an orientation. If you get an interview, you are in. they ask you a few preparation questions about time management and show you around the campus with the last stop being financial aid. They give you a HESI study guide and show you the Sim lab. I waited about 2 to 3 weeks after I applied (which was the last day I could apply for that semester) so it didnt take long. For housing, the market in Denver is expensive. I'd look on craigslist or on the posting boards at the school when you come to orientation and find a room mate or plan on living farther out. Denver real estate market wasn't really affected much by the bust in 2009 and has rebound quite a bit.

Lizzy - I second everything blckgldwht said. I also applied the very last day and waited 6 weeks before receiving my invitation for an interview.

Blckgldwht - I also take the HESI on 1/6! Hopefully we can introduce ourselves in person :) My name is Adina, btw.

I thought if you already have a Bachelor's degree you don't have to take the HESI...

I believe that's true Heather. Lizzy shouldn't needed to take the HESI...just the interview/orientation process.

Does anyone know the start date for the April 2016 cohort?

Heather - like you, I am also from northern CA and just got my acceptance letter today. I feel like I'm in a last minute rush to get my financial aid and housing situation squared away. Have you found a place yet?

Hi masterswim21!

The start date is April 4. I have family that lives in Denver, so I'm renting a room from a cousin in the Highlands Ranch area (way southern Denver). What part of nor Cal are you from? When is your interview?

Hey Adina!

I was so focused on the HESI and such I didn't even read the forum here before the test so I'm sorry if I seemed rude. I was the only guy there so I'm sure I saw you. What did you think of the HESI?

Ready for the April start?
