denver school of nursing, has anyone gotten with a 2.0 gpa?

hey so i wanna ask you guys a few questions, has anyone gotten into the denver school of nursing with a gpa of 2.0? or even 2.2 do they look at just pre requisite gpa or overall totall gpa. and which classes do they look at the most. cost i had all bs in my science classes and A stats. but other classes like english screwed me up.

I cannot speak specifically for the college in question, but nursing school is extremely competitive nowadays. I got into nursing school with a 3.9 back in 2006 and was able to avoid waitlists, but I knew people who had 3.8s and were waitlisted.

They will likely be looking at your overall GPA as well as your science classes. Most colleges have a certain cumulative GPA that you must attain in order to be considered for admission to the nursing school.

As DSON is a for-profit institution, I imagine they're going to be less picky than universities or community colleges. I would caution anyone about incurring a 6-figure student loan debt for a nursing degree in this economy, especially in Denver, which is oversaturated with new grad nurses who have a hard time finding a job.

The best thing to do is contact them and ask if that would be competitive. I have found them to be honest and upfront with any question that I have asked.

DSON is a for profit school...meaning if you have the means to pay, and the bare minimum prereq's you are in. Worst case if usually you get push back a start date if a bunch of people applied.

Yup... They have a wait list starting with the newest BSN students I've heard, but they've also increased the number of students they're letting in to 120. I don't think you'll have trouble being accepted. I'm really enjoying nursing school with DSN.

I was wondering how long it took for DSN to contact you to set up an interview? I sent in my application mid-september for the Oct. 1st deadline. I'm so nervous! How was the HESI entrance exam for you? Do you know if there is a built in calculator for the exam? Thanks!!

I heard back from DSN between 5-6 weeks after the application deadline. The HESI was not bad. You should study the review book and know your conversions. There is a basic calculator built into the exam. Good luck!

Thanks, I appreciate the advice Boxer Mama! I swear this process of waiting for a response is so nerve wrecking. I just want to know already! :nailbiting: I'm starting to study the HESI entrance exam and I find that I have a hard time the most on the word problems in the math section... but for everything else, I think should be fine!
