Denver jobs for new grads

U.S.A. Colorado

Published

Hi everyone,

I may be moving to Denver after graduating with a BSN in May from UT Austin. I have not worked in acute care, but I have worked at a doctor's office for 2+ years. How is it out there for BSNs?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Good luck Penny8611, whatever you decide. I just graduated ACC in December. In the time I was waiting on the list and in school the job market totally changed. :( On the other hand it could drastically change again by the time you finish school.

The market in Denver, from my understanding is really bad. I'm very, very worried about finding a job when the time comes, even though it will be a good 3 years before I even get to that point. The amount of nurses they are graduating right now compared to the non-existant job market for them, I sometimes wonder if I will ever find a job. I'm still plugging away at my pre reqs and hoping, but I'll be honest, I'm not all that optimistic :( I hate saying that, but it just doesn't look good at all. I almost wish that I wanted to do something else so I wasn't so stressed and worried about it.

There's a shortage... everywhere except Colorado. In Colorado from all reports I've seen, there is such a glut that they are demanding experienced nurses for what might otherwise be a new grad position solely because they can due to the over saturated market.

Not true, no shortage in California either. My hospital doesn't even have any nursing jobs listed, and they're trying to get some people to quit because they overhired and most nurses are getting called off once a week.

Everyone that I know that works in a hospital as a new grad got in because they new someone, if you dont know anyone there's not a lot out there. I know new grads that have been looking for employment for a year now.
