I'm trying to determine if I will be able work. How many hours a week are you in class, and how many hours a week are you studying? Thanks!

If I counted correctly it’s about 13 hours of on campus hours and then first quarter there is also an online class but it isn’t too demanding, at least yet. I pretty much go to class then come home and make notes or study until the end of the day. But just depends on how you study and how many exams are coming up each week! People do work so it’s possible but not recommended

Thank you for sharing!

Hi, has anyone who was put on the waitlist for the July 2019 cohort heard any news about their status? I know we are supposed to hear no later than tomorrow, but in the previous cohort feeds, it seemed like most people heard back before that cut off date.

I was taken off the waitlist at the end of March, and had my interview last week. It seemed like quite a few people had been continuing interviews for the July start while I was there.

Does anyone remember the shoe requirement for labs and clinicals? Did Jeff say they have to be white? I can’t remember.

I won't start clinicals until next quarter so I'm not sure, but it doesn't matter what you wear to lab as long as they are tennis shoes!

There is no requirement on shoe color for clinical; however, I recommend something comfortable as you will be on your feet for most of the 12 hour shift.

If you are considering working, take advantage of the free time you have during quarter 1 and try to find something PRN. Q2 on, it will be a challenge working and find the time to study and it’s highly recommended that you don’t. Focus your energy on pharmacology!

The best piece of advice I can give you before starting school is to purchase a voice recorder and a white board. When you’re sitting in lecture take notes. Then listen to the recording and take notes again. You’ll be surprised how much you missed the first time. Quiz yourself using the white board. Set a study schedule and don’t procrastinate!

Most importantly! Focus on yourself! Eat good, exercise, sleep 8 hours a night, and make time for fun!

No one said nursing school was easy, but if you have made it this far, you can definitely do it! DCN is a fantastic school with an extremely caring faculty! You’re all going to love it!

I’m excited to start next week! Who else is in cohort B??
