Dental Nursing Opportunity for new grad

Hello!

I worked as a waitress all through school, and there is an anesthesiologist that comes in all the time and has given me an opportunity to work as a nurse for his office. He mainly does mouth reconstruction like sinus surgeries, bone grafts, etc. I haven't been looking to intensely because I have been studying for boards and am planning on taking my test in two weeks. This opportunity just kind of popped up. I have had two interviews, and I spoke with his HR, and we are supposed to have a discussion about compensation. I dont know if I should say yes, and if so I don't know what I should be expecting for a salary. I guess I am worried that I will get stuck, and wont be able to be hired at a hospital or any other nursing areas if this isnt what I want to stick with. At the same time it is a nursing opportunity with great benefits, and I don't know when I will get another. Any thoughts?

Look up online the average salary for a nurse in your state so you'll have an idea of what to tell them. Since this is a private office, it might pay a little less than what you'll get in a hospital but this job might have other benefits, like you only have to work days and it's not as hectic or stressful than working in a hospital.

If you feel that this is something you would like to do, then go for it. If you try this and then realized you'd rather do something else, then look for another job. Remember, it's easier to look for another job while you already have a job. As you already know, job market for new grad nurses is pretty tough right now so take this opportunity if this job is appealing to you.
