Denial Letter , Crushed and Depressed

Published

Hello,

I just received my denial letter , I had gotten A's and B's but had a low NLN score (I needed a 75 but found out my score was 62) and to see that I wasn't selected shattered me to my core , I tried to hold it in but I just busted into tears.  I hate that I worked my *** off but it wasn't enough , has anyone ever dealt with this , how did you get through it?

Specializes in Certified Nursing Assistant.

I've been rejected by 3 nursing schools back to back in a month's time. I understand how you feel. Take your time..cry all your emotions out and keep it moving. Can't dwell on what could have been. You have the grades and your meant to be a nurse. Find more programs and reapply. When one door closes another one opens. I applied to 5 nursing schools and I'm still waiting to hear back from 2. KEEP MOVING!

I have gotten a few rejections and they all hurt. When my dream program denied me I cried and felt like I wasn't good enough. But I worked harder and retook my TEAS test and have since gotten multiple acceptances. Just keep going. If it is your passion, you will find a way ?

I was qualified as an applicant every time I applied to nursing school and it took me YEARS to get in. Every season I was rejected, instead of getting down on things, I just continued refreshing my prerequisites, taking classwork to improve my own knowledge, and continuing to study for the placement exam. Eventually I got in, got through school and found a job.

It is discouraging every time you get one of those notifications, but you get to choose to continue on or give up and do something else. It's up to you which way you go.

I actually looked at majors and I never felt drawn to it , nursing is what I'm drawn to.

To be honest I'm feeling much better , yes I cried but I'm not gonna give up on my dream. Thank you all so much ❤️

I am so sorry to hear this. After a grief time have you thought about asking to meet the Dean/Associate Dean and your admissions counselor to see what you can do better. If your pre-req grades go up does that compensate for the NLN score? BTW I like your articles on nursing school and they are written very well. Can you add these AN activities to your admission application?

I'm actually going to do that Monday and in my school the NLN has to be a 75 or higher , im just ineligible. I would like for the retake I'm doing to supplement it but , IDK about that. We don't really have an application process besides the intent form , GPA and NLN scores. Also thank you so much ❤️

I'm so nervous about doing this so I'm going to send one to my advisor. I keep being a bit nervous that I'd annoy them
