You are NOT required to have any externship/CNA experience. However, the recruiter I talked to (she was Peds ED) said they prefer to hire/prefer people with ED experience. It seems to be very competitive like most residency programs, but it also depends on the department you want. I do know they also like people who go to the open house because it shows "initiative" and many people have said that they feel that if you don't/didn't go to the open house you have a slimmer chance to get offered an interview or position. HOWEVER, that is just what people have said and I'm sure you still can get an interivew/position if you didn't go, but it would've best to have attended.

Hi everyone!!
I'm starting a thread for the incoming July 2018 Cohort! I thought it would be nice to get each others experiences with the interviewing process and steps to hiring! My main pick is the Pediatric Emergency Department.
Also, I was invited to the Open house next week on Feb. 23 and will be flying in to attend that. Is anyone else attending this?
