Hello! Has anyone worked at or currently work at DCMH? It is close by my home and I am considering applying there. I graduate in May 07 but wanted to start working around December as an aide or intern. I am also thinking of Crozier but I have known a few people who have worked there and were/are very unhappy with a few things there.

How are the nurses, managers and patient loads? Can you self schedule? Are they union ( I don't think DCMH is)? Thanks for you responses and help.

DCMH is part of the Crozer network. My FIL is a RN at Crozer and they have the same problems as other hospitals. A girl who just graduated with me works in the ortho unit there. I heard that she likes it. Some students who graduated with me from DCCC had clinicals there and hated it there (DCMH)! A little heads up if you are an intern you are considered a casual employee no benefits. If you work as an aide you can be considered part-time for benefits. Just wanted to let you know.

Thanks for the information. My friends at school didn't like either hospital for clinicals. I am not sure if it is the pressure of school, instructors or just being scared of diong something wrong, but pretty much noone likes their clinical site! What school did you go to? Congrats on graduating!! :)

The hospitals you talk about are very clicky. You either fit in or you don't and God forbid you don't. You won't get any help from others and your orientation will be the pits.

Specializes in Maternal - Child Health.

Have you checked into Riddle?

I worked there in the 1990's, and thought very well of it. Nurse:patient ratios were reasonable, and the quality of care was good.

Best of luck to you!

I just completed my clinical rotation at Riddle. I enjoyed it and found many of the nurses to be helpful! I guess every hospital has the potential to be clicky? I just hope wherever I end up will work out well.

Specializes in ICU, ER.

I've worked for DCMH for 6 years and loveit. I did 10 years of agency all over Delaware county and Philly, so I have a lot of hopitals to compare. The pay and benefits are good, scheduling is not a problem, relations with administration are also good. They make you feel like a valued member of a team.
