I found this link in the Texas forum.

http://www.eline.delmar.edu/degree.htm

Anyone know anything about it?

It sound like a good program for those who live in Texas but I cannot see Indiana allowing nurses to learn this much online. I am sure you have to have labs and practicums and I don't think Indiana will go for this at all. Did you say CC tuition in Texas is 22 an hour? You have got to be kidding me? Is that a typo? Cause here in low payscale/economically depressed Indiana it is way more than that. I heard some other states have online program and distance education programs for LPN's and ADN programs too. Indiana just stinks.

Through eLine, all the coursework is in modules. For example, there are like 25 modules that make up the foundations in nursing course, which is one of the classes in the first semester. Some modules are short, some are long. You get a grade for each module and then those are averaged to give you the grade for the class. You complete the modules at your own pace. I believe that all of the classes for the first semester have to be completed within 1 year. The format for all of the modules is the same and you complete them in whatever order you choose. After you complete all of the modules for the 3 classes that make up the first semester, you do the clinicals. Then you start in with the modules for the second semester. So if something comes up in your life where you can't do schoolwork for awhile you just pick back up with the modules when you can (keeping in mind that you have to finish each semester within 1 year). This may not be all that clear, but I will try to answer questions if you have more.

Thank you so much for explaining all that, Amy!

I think you said earlier that you are in the program right now. I'll be keeping in touch with you because I'm pretty sure Delmar is going to be my choice. Thanks again! :)

I can't find the table I looked at earlier (I suspect it was an outdated table) but I found this section on tuition and fees. My previous post concerned only tuition.

I hope this clears up everything. :imbar

Ok so how many credits are most classes then? Here in Indiana most classes are 3 credits and Ivy Tech Charges about 90 something a credit and then we have a technology fee. A LPN program has about 60 credit hours after prereqs. Also where do you do clinicals and labs and such? I am not sure anyone in Indiana would proctor someone through these skills. Just very curious how this all works and whether others states will allow someone to be licensed this way.

this is really cool! i was not aware of delmar offering this option! i received my lpn from delmar in 1993 and have since moved back to iowa. at the time i attended delmar, the tuition for an out of state student was way less than iowa's tuition for an in state student. it is really crazy!! i have been looking into completing my rn online and this sounds great!! anyway...good luck to all of you!

Ummm, I think the board is acting up. Yesterday, two posters had said that Del Mar only accepts Texas residents but I don't see those posts anymore.

ETA: I see where Brian has posted about the technical difficulties. Shame too. I had the top score for Asteroids.

No. Both programs are for Texas residents only.

In addition, the ADN program (Del Mar) accepts only 10-14 students each semester - Spring, Summer, Fall. They expect more applicants than usual for the Summer 2005 semester if the Spring semester is closed due to the anticipated grant.

*sigh* more waitlists

And as of a couple months ago they did not have a LVN to RN transition....
