Hey so I have an interview for Dekalb medical new nurse residency program in Decatur, GA in June. I am super excited! Has anyone been through this already? How is the process? Any information on the test I may have to take? I am very interested in getting an emergency position.

Never got a call. I'll just continue to look else where :)

Ah man! Well good luck to you! Something will come along. ?

Hello OptimisticRN03,

I am graduating from Emory next month and in the process of applying to the RN Residency program at Dekalb medical and I'll be attending the panel interview tomorrow. I'm specifically interested in L&D and wanted to know how you like working at Dekalb medical and in that specific unit. If u can please email me at [email protected]! I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Thank you!! I received a call first and then after we spoke was sent an email with the official offer. It is for L&D 

What did everyone think about those panel interviews?

Well it definitely wasn't as bad as I expected the managers seems really nice and easy to talk to. I didn't feel intimidated or insecure once we got into the swing of things. How about you?

I don't know how to feel completely... but I definitely don't feel like I was given an adequate amount of time to talk to the managers, and I also feel like they knew some of the people in my group, so I felt overshadowed. I'm hoping I'll hear back for a one-on-one next week. Do you remember the names of the managers? I forgot to ask for business cards. I was pleasantly surprised that NICU was present!

Yea I agree with the time part it was very rushed and I feel like they felt rushed too but hopefully it was enough time for them to really see who they would like to come back for a 2nd interview. But no I don't remember their names, I was scared to take notes during the interview :(

I applied for the nurse extern program. Did they say when you would hear back from them for the second round of interviews?

Hello, I am a nursing student who graduates next year and I am specifically interested in L&D as well, and am interested in applying to some residencies. If you don't mind, can you tell me what you did to make your application stand out in order to get an interview? Do you already have work experience in that area? Did you do a preceptorship in L&D, etc. Any advice you're willing to give will be appreciated!
