Deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA)

Published

Hello,

I was wondering if there was anybody out there that has DACA and was able to take the NCLEX-RN exam to become liscensed. I know DACA provides you with a work permit and social security number and a state ID and driver's liscense if your current state allows it.

I recently became aware of the limitations of my DACA permit when graduating from nursing school. Granted, I have not started yet, but I started researching and I saw some states not granting permission to take the NCLEX-RN examination because the State IDs mentioned something along the lines of Limited term, even though work permit is renewable every two years.

Has anybody been succesful in such case? I did read that you could use your country's passport as long as it had english translations in it to avoid showing your limited term state ID. Is this true? Can this form of ID be used in this situation.

I currently live in Louisiana.

Thanks!
