Okay, so here's my delima...I have a job I really love:heartbeat (CT area, very low stress, low key, good pay) however my hours are M-F 1200-2030. The oppurtunity has come up to go to a 0700-1530 shift, doing some of the same things, it is just a lot busier during the day(and you know administration is around the whole time, etc.) and I will also have to go to one other area I am not real sure about(MRI,the last girl quit because she didn't like the people, but she was there 40 hrs a week, I will be rotating to this area once every 3 days me and 2 other nurses will rotate between CT/Ultrasound guided biopsy/MRI). I really like the biopsy room and CT area(I cover the nurses lunches in these areas now, then work the CT area from 1530-2030). Now, I have three kiddos(13, 10, 10) and a husband at home that would very much like me to be home in the evenings:icon_hug: . Not to mention that I really want to see my oldest's football games this fall. So I am torn, I like what I am doing, but I would like to be off in the evenings too! ARGH!
So, what's your 2 cents?

Daytime shifts work for some people, whereas nights work out better for others. There are benefits and detriments to every choice; however, this choice is solely yours. I wish you the best of luck.

Im a nursing student, I will be done next year...but I have thought about the various shifts that I may work. I am a mother of three....and comming from a mothers point of view....I dont know that would be hard. As far as a job that you enjoy, that is hard to come by. But as far as being home when your kids have activities, and so on...thats a toss up. I think that I may switch jobs, just because they dont stay young forever, and Im sure that they would be happy that their mom could make it to their games ect.
I hope this helps a little, good luck with the decision!

Personally, I think that your kids are young for such a short period, and if you really want to be involved with their lifes (i.e., going to football games, etc.), I would work a schedule that would allow me to do that. Time will come when you will have more time to work a different schedule.
Just my two cents.
Thanks, that's what my gut is telling me to do, it's just that the last job i had was so miserable(L&D, PP, NN, Peds..7p-7a), and this one is so good I am just scared to mess something up. Before I took this job I had a long talk with my kids and they all thought this job was a good move. And I can get some Tuesdays off(PTO) to see a few games, but it's not the same. I think I am going to e-mail my supervisor and let her know I want to go to the day position. I really appreciate your input!:redpinkhe
