After much researching and reading the Success stories on here for the people who took kaplan I signed up and started today :) just wanted to thank u all who shared all the good and bad experiences.... I am hoping that it helps this time around since I didn't pass with hurst the first time... We learned the decision tree today... Did any of you find it helpful ? I know that it only is pertained to certain q's .... Any advice as far as how to utilize kaplan would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks for clarifying that! I def did it after the tutorial, and while question #1 was on my screen. It just helped me to relax tremendously. And was glad I got a large dry erase board to write and doodle my thoughts and labs and motivational quotes. I was in and out of there in an hr and half.
Hey I recently passed using Kaplan. I also used NCSBN 3 week course. I found both helpful as long as you read the rationales and truly understand why the answer is the answer. When using Kaplan take the diagnostic test to figure out your weakness first and study for the nclex from the weakest to strongest. Use Kaplan to help you target the areas (the test plan categories)
I wish you much luck and success with nursing!!! Also i need any books i have Priorities, Delegation and Assessments book i can email you (i have it in the PDF format on my computer) let me know...i wont charge.i just want to help someone else like the lord helped me... : )
I really felt like all of the little tips and tricks were really helpful, like focusing on the here and now and having an order for everything you need and whatever you do, don't leave the patient. Things like that. I only used the tree maybe a couple of times, but really, it was more because I could tease out which answers did or didn't make sense.I agree about the Kaplan questions being very similar, but here's what got me- the Kaplan questions, IMO, were harder than the NCLEX questions (I passed in 75), and it TOTALLY threw me. I felt like I was getting questions that were too easy (even if I didn't necessarily know the answers), and I SWORE I'd failed. Thankfully I passed!
I kept a list of everything mentioned during class that I needed to review- TPN, EKG strips, whatever. Then I went over the content on my own.
RunBabyRN,
What does IMO mean? Sorry for my ignorance.
This actually makes me feel so much better! My school offers kaplan after graduation and I take my NCLEX on the 7th. I've done all my question trainers and I have a little over 200 more q bank to go, but I'm still pretty nervous. Its nice to hear that some of you went in and the NCLEX felt easier than the Kaplan questions! Because some of these things are killing me honestly. Lol
Hi Erika, I will be taking my exam in a week and have been studying with Kaplan. Can you please email me the PDA book if you can? I would greatly appreciate it. God bless!! email is [email protected]

the no brain-dumping rule is only until the first question You are not allowed to write anything on the erase board until after going through the tutorial and all the pre-test stuff. Once the first real question comes up, you are allowed to write whatever you want on the erase board, and allowed to get as many new ones as you want (though they will only allow you to have one at a time, so if you get a new one they'll take the one you had) I used mine at around question 10 to just clear my head of random facts that I kept thinking that I felt like were interfering with my concentration. I passed with 75q, so it worked!
