Go for the circ. I speak as a man, nurse, father,Navy vet....do it now, when I was in nursing school many years ago,the urologists would always ask for me to help them with the old guys who now needed circs..this was in the 80's and these guys were in there 70's and 80's..lot of home births..now with arthritic hands, dribbling, poor eyesight..and reverse puberty so to speak a lot of them weren't able to care for themselves and woudl get nasty infections and sores...so my job was to lay on top of them(6'2 then 245lbs)while the doc gave them a ring of lido injections,6-8 around the member and then start cutting...I'll never pay for one of those texas bar bull rides....I got plenty of bronch busting for free.....young men in combat,God forgive can;t wash for weeks sometimes..during world war 2,medics and docs were doing circs in the field...Vietnam as well....I have 2 boys and both had circs...I didn;t watch, but I also didn;t watch when they got thier shots either... I know the 'natural" movement has discouraged circs..and female circs overseas due to barbaric tribal rituals have also cast a bad light on them...but basically men are slobs, and lazy, and get old and stupid faster than women and don;t care of themselves as well...so again I say go for it...

I was wondering what type of pain prevention is an infant given during circumcision? Somewhere in the back of my mind I remember hearing that it is up to the physician performing the circ if the infant gets any analgesia at all. Like I said I dont know if this is true...just wondering.

My son is 9 months old, and he had a circ done. I believe the Dr used lidocaine gel, but he did use something. They told me he didnt even cry, which i believe...he is a toughy.

I have heard of grown women complaining about men they have been with that weren't "cut" smelling bad, ect. One woman on the pregnancy boards i used to chat on said this, and had sons that she didnt circ, and they got infections.

Personally I wouldnt "go south" on a man who wasnt cut...

First let me state that I am male, uncircumsized and perfectly happy with my member and wouldn't change a thing. Circumcision serves no medical purpose, and is purely asthetic. Some cultures have female circumcision were they remove all of the external female genitalia. We consider this barbaric, but on the same note it is expected for a male to be circumcised? Quite the double standard I'd say! Just my point of view.

If someone's genitals are smelly, it's probably not just about whether or not they're circumcised. I've heard of men who have surgeries to try to recreate a foreskin. I'm not saying it's common, but having problems with being uncircumcised isn't that common either, statistically. As for concerns of cleanliness when "going south" on a guy, take a shower or give him a little sponge bath first - not a bad idea whether or not he's got a foreskin to clean under! While I'm not against circumcision, no need to be discriminatory one way or the other. When he's erect, there's really no difference!

I love it when someone that actually has a unit speaks out on the subject! Like Grandpa said, it's quite bothersome to deal with an uncirced member in old age. My son will have a member like MOST other Midwestern boys and I'm sure he'll never hate us later for having it done. It doesn't bother me if anyone doesn't think they want to do it to their son, it is definately not the norm in European countries. It is a cultural thing. Here in the US it is still a very widely performed procedure.

I have assisted with many circs and lidocaine is used where I work but in shot form. We also us a pacifier for the babe to suck on. Honestly, I don't remember one cry while the actual circ is being done. They usually cry because of the straps on their legs and they hate being restrained like that. We also rap their arms in a blanket nice and tight leaving the lower half exposed. It takes maybe 5 minutes tops and the babies do wonderful.

Honestly!

It is totally unindicated surgically,

All Europe is aghast at this mutilation carried out on baby boys.

Funny thing but compare the infection rates..

Cutting off a privy parts is nothing like cutting off a foreskin. I don't know many women who actually have a G-spot, so if their privy parts were removed their ability for sexual pleasure below the waist disappears. Men without foreskins can definately still experience pleasure and DO! You are only 30 yrs old right now, I bet in another 30 yrs your opinion could change. I'm not saying it will, but it might. Of course if Europeans are all happily intact and have no issues with infection or smells, they should come over to the US and give seminars on how to care for intact memberes. It's not a bad idea.

I am not saying female circumcision is anything but barbaric, but my point is how much do we know about the effects ( sensation) that may be lost by removing the foreskin. A procedure that is done simply for asthetic purposes on babies, to remove a natural part of their anatomy is quite silly. And for the record, I have no problem, nor ever had a problem, with infection or smells, being taught how to properly clean might have some impact.

it is not even an issue in Europe. We expect your average bloke to have a foreskin and are mildly disconcerted if he dosen't unless he is Jewish or Muslim.

How can you say "What do we know about the effects of circumcision in regards to sensation?" There are plenty of men walking around without foreskin, having great sex and still enjoying their memberes! This isn't a new procedure, it's been done for centuries. I think knowing how much most men enjoy sex, if circumcision ruined it, it would have been outlawed a LONG time ago ;) .
