Hello all, and Merry Christmas!
Joe, your program sounds nice, even if the choir didn't sing. Hope the director has a mild case, and recovers soon. I'm sure the church was beautifully decorated! Harp music is beautiful! That was a thoughtful gift, of the knitting yarn and sock instructions!
The service at the Episcopal church was VERY nice! Lasted about two hours. The church was decorated with boughs and wreaths, and they had a candle-lighting ceremony included in the program. Lots of obscure but beautiful music, and the words were all printed so we could follow along. The program that we received at the door was some 14 pages long, due to all the words printed out! There were some chants, and some responsive readings, and a short homily, and LOTS of music. Did I mention there was lots of music??? My friend sings alto in their 30-piece choir, and there was a pianist who alternated between piano and organ, and a small ensemble with a cello, a flute, and an oboe. Everything combined was very pleasing, and a nice "ringing in," as it were, of Christmas Eve.
Today dh presented me with some fresh-squeezed orange juice. And, I made me some avocado toast. We will meet with oldest ds and go out for lunch (there are a few restaurants open, but we were unable to secure a reservation so hopefully will snag a table). Then we will drop him off at his place, and we will all join a Zoom with youngest ds and his wife.
I see, via NORAD, that Santa completed all his rounds. Hopefully he is napping now, tummy full of cookies and milk. Mrs. Claus is likely busy washing his clothes (wink) and has assigned a few elves to clean the sleigh and give treats to the reindeer.
Stay safe and well, and have a good day!
Happy, Merry to one and all~
It is sunny and not terribly cold, though it is not warm, either.
Hubby let me re-wrap his arm bandages (finally!). He says he felt "kind of sick" this morning. And he says his feet/lower legs "aren't working just right" today. He has already been in the bottle, some; I asked him if he would please not drink so much today that I have to make sure he doesn't fall on the stairs. He said "Okay." (Prolly in one ear and out t'other)
I will have a little bit of Christmas in a while, as my sister sent me a package that got here last night. I gave hubby his Anniversary card (from 12/16) and Christmas card, and he has given me ------ another day of the same-old-same-old.
His right broken rib hurts (surprise!). Last night he almost choked out on a large glug of his Pepsi-Zero. He was trying to cough but couldn't. I told him to spit out what was in his mouth, which he did, all down the front of his clothes. It took a while, but he finally got his breath back, followed by a lot of coughing. When he came in from his 'man-cave' just now I saw he has spilled something else down the front of his t-shirt...yeah, peach vodka, I guess. I told him to keep it up and he would get aspiration pneumonia from inhaling his drinks. Ppfftt.
Anyway, the birds are happy because I poured a LOT of sunflower seeds outside.
Gads, it is 1:40 PM and the both of my "patients" are dozing in their recliners. Talk with y'all later, maybe.
Merry Christmas. Dd and grandkids spent the night, as is our tradition, and we opened gifts after enjoying dh's cinnamon rolls. Said rolls are pre-made from Rhodes, but he did put them out to thaw and raise, baked and then iced them. I made a berry and an apple pie this morning, baked dinner rolls last night. We are leaving soon to go to eldest ds and dil's place for dinner. My sisters were coming, but now the eldest is feeling under the weather so will stay home. The weather is back to cool and rainy, in the forties. Still too much ice and snow for a safe walk, perhaps tomorrow.

Stars I'm glad that his injury was minor and that he did not lose his phone again
Tweety glad work is quiet
NJ22 hope we'll see those temps soon, very cold here still
Dianah how was the Christmas program?
Ado glad that you were able to find a time to celebrate that worked for everyone
Yesterday was quite busy. Did laundry and vacuuming in the morning and ran to Trader Joe's. Then went to my dad's to open presents briefly before going to my cousin's. Was pleased too see that my nearly 7 year old niece is getting more mature and calmer than she used to be, although she has still kept her unique personality
Then went to my cousin's for an early dinner, the same fairly small crowd as Thanksgiving with the addition of my sister and family. My nephew is leaning towards Indiana University for college. My aunt is in the hospital again, apparently her heart is OK but she has fibrosis and now Covid. It now seems questionable as to whether she can live on her own again.
Then back home for a bit and then to church later that night. The music director has Covid so the choir didn't sing. Thankfully the harpist who was providing music before and after service agreed to accompany on the hymns. Small crowd, as most people go to the early evening service. Got home close to midnight
Today will be quieter. Have church later this morning, will be a small crowd, dad might come too. Will do some cooking and will bake cookies. Might try to get out for a walk if it warms up a bit and isn't too windy. And work on knitting, my sister got me a knitting pattern for socks and some yarn
Will be fairly cold today, only 14, but that is much improved since a few days ago
