DEA Number Question

I have been offered a position as a contract NP at a government military facility. One of the requirements is a DEA number. It is $510 for 3 years. Does anyone know if that is reimbursable through the government or is that a fee that I have to incur on my own? Any ideas? Any experience?

Your DEA number is linked to where you practice so the employer should be picking this up for you.

mine took it out of my cme allowance

As a government employee, you are exempt from paying the fee for a DEA certificate. I work for a hospital that is operating under the State of California and I did not pay anything for my DEA certificate.

I don't think that being a contractor counts as being a government employee.

oops, my bad...didn't see the "contractor" part.

Your contract company should pay for it. I do locums and they paid for mine. If it is required then they should pay for it.
