Daytona State College

Is anyone else applying to the Daytona State Nursing Programs, LPN or RN? I was trying to get an idea of the applicant pool and Teas scores. I haven't taken my Teas yet and my GPA is on the lower end due to some mishaps in my spring semester. I'm nervous I won't make it this semester, but will continue to try!

I figured this was a good place to encourage one another and get support!

Any and all replies are greatly appreciated and even past student are welcome to give some input!!

@livinmydream I had all my pre-reqs complete and they judge your overall G.P.A but they also look at your exact grades in the pre-reqs. I heard that you just have to pass the TEAS, that they only really count on it when there are 2 students with the exact same grades, gpa, etc competing for one spot.

After they look at your GPA, pre-req completion, + passing TEAS grade you are put in 3 categories and they go through each "category" and accept as many students as they can before all the spots are filled. You can find more info regarding the categories on the daytona state website :)

Thank you so much @margaretmuslima

You're welcome! Have you applied yet? :)

I am taking microbiology and anatomy 1 now. Will take anatomy 2, in January. I'll be applying in may.

I'm discouraged. It seems so competitive. Even with the right scores. Its becoming more so. I'm on the verge of submitting to private. Or doing LPN then straight into a bridge

I got in with a 3.35 as many others have this semester. Just try your best. I seriously had been stressing about applying for the year + I was doing my pre-reqs and in reality it's painless... I think as long as you strive to keep your GPA above a 3.2 you'll be okay. Just work hard on your pre-reqs and apply :) you don't know if you don't try, don't sell yourself short! Private schools are just as competitive lately... so you might as well give the cheaper option a go!

That's great to hear. Is that your overall GPA. Or pre reqs?

@livingmydream Try Bethune-Cookman because their program is not competitive and fairly easy to complete. Its expensive but the teachers are nice and reliable.

It was my overall :) I had to take a lot of remedial math classes though.
