Daytona or Seminole state nursing program Spring 2016

Published

I'm a bit early with starting a topic on spring term of 2016 for nursing school but I need a little encouragement ladies!! I have finished all of my pre requisites for nursing and I have taken the teas test once and made a 72.7 which I plan on retaking and I have a 3.4 GPA! Is that good enough to get into nursing school?? Who else is planning on applying to Seminole state or Daytona state nursing school?? Oh and I'm in the process of become a CNA so I can have flexible hours!!

I am applying for the program at Daytona state campus in September, hoping to get accepted in spring 2016!

Good luck. I just got accepted to start in August!

I'm thinking about applying to Daytona state for spring. I'm excited

I have all As in my prerequisite courses except for micro I have a B. My overall GPA is 3.7 the only thing is I got a 61% on my TEAS and 73% math and 81% in reading. I'm retaking the TEAS at the end of August. I'm still nervous. I applied to the school I'm a transfer from Keiser, but worst case I can always stay at Keiser. I'm nervous ladies keep me updated on your progress.

If you apply in September to start in the spring, you will make it. I'm the nervous one.. but if we both make it, I'd love to have a study buddy...

I'd love to have a study buddy as well! I'll def keep you updated. Are you near Daytona State? I live in Orlando so it would be a far drive for me.

I am actually right in Daytona, well port orange. But close!

Hi Brittnee, it looks like you are going to be fine. Your GPA puts you in the top tier (category 1), and your TEAS scores are passing. I'm sure you saw this concerning DSC TEAS requirements: For students having the TEAS version 5, the following criteria must be met for both ADN and LPN:

ï‚· TEAS AITS overall score at 59th percentile or better. Applicant must also have a 63rd percentile or better in mathematics, and 69th percentile or better in reading. Your math and reading are great. They will look at your GPA first, then if they have to choose between yourself and another applicant with the same GPA (it would most likely be in a lower GPA range,) then the TEAS V comes into play. Math first, then reading, and lastly the overall score which you passed. I can understand you wanting to hedge your bets by getting a better TEAS score, but you are looking good girl!! Good job!

Does any one know someone who has made it is without finishing a pre/co req before applying.

I have everything up Micro done (which I am taking right now in the Fall)

Hi, I'm not sure if anyone has been accepted without all the classes being completed. Definitely check with an adviser and/or nursing dept., but here is what happened with I spoke to them (Daytona State). All my pre/co reqs were completed in August during the Summer term. I had passed my TEAS V, and had a good cumulative GPA. I was advised not to apply in May even though I would have everything completed by the current Fall term start date (today). I assume there are so many applicants that have completed all the pre/co reqs, that all the spots are taken (which is only fair to those students applying.) Hope this helps... Sounds like you have worked hard, are ready to make it happen!

I know someone who applied in Sept and was taking micro when she applied at first she got denied but later got a call for a fill in spot! Good luck. Today is my first day in DSC Nursing eek!
