Day Off before taking the NCLEX?

Published

How many people really do take a full day off of studying before the NCLEX? Do you find it helps?

I'm taking mine for the 2nd time on Feb 1st and everyone keeps telling me to take the day before off and not touch the books... thoughts?

I just passed my 6th time (woohoo) about a week ago.. I wasn't planning on "relaxing" the day before the test because I have never done that in the past for any other test I've taken. I wasn't going to go crazy with studying but just review a few things and go over things I kept forgetting... However... Two days before my test I got a stomach virus!!!! I was in bed for 2 days and didn't want to do anything at all! I rested, watched tv, and you know what, I went into the NCLEX ready for it and feeling relaxing and my brain didn't feel over worked... So I would say relax the day before the test, but if you have to just review things lightly and not cram! Good Luck!!

Absolutely take the day off! I took the last two days off leading up to my exam. You need the rest, rest your brain and your body. Just think of the nclex as a test you took during the semester. Cramming the day before will overwork your brain. Relax watch tv, listen to music, spend time with friends. You will feel refreshed and ready to go! Don't forget to eat breakfast before going in and most importantly bring a snack with you for the 10 min break. If you do not finish before hand. Good luck! :)

Take A day off for sure. Just like when you study you need a break for the brain to generate and heal, just like your body when we go to sleep we regenerate. Hope that helps.

agreed. take the day off. maybe if you want, do some questions to keep things moving. nothing too strenuous (ie. going through a book/study guide)

the point of it is..that you should pretty much already have all the knowledge from previous studying. you shouldnt be cramming on the last 1-2 days before the test. so if you think about it..what more can you really learn in just 1 day. might as well use it to clear your head
