Davenport Nursing Program questions

Published

Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking a look at my post.

I have heard some good things about Davenport in Warren, specifically the LPN program. Is it hard to get it? Also, what are the pre-requirmenets?

Thanks for any advice offered...

Any good or bad things to say about davenport or baker or occ is appreciated

msrenee.....i dont' have access to the messaging part of this site yet. i only have something like 14 posts yet, and i think we need 25 to send messages to other members....unless we pay. So i would LOVE to message you back...but i can't!

I am a DU student....and we were talking a few days ago in the library after study group. i am the redhead that looked like i hadn't had any sleep for days! ;)

HHHEEEYYYYYY!!!!! ok you found me COOL!!!...you are silly talking about sleep, I TOTALLY understand LOL...How's things going? What is the other young ladies name on here so that I can add her to my friends list?

Hey MsAshley how are you? I apologize for getting back with you so late. I get the alerts on my phone but I cannot respond on there for some reason. Hum oh well I found your post lol...The LPN Program is awesome so far and I can't imagine it getting anything but GREATER :-)...It is very time consuming as you may already be aware. I applied for the BSN but did not get in. My GPA at the time of application was 3.3 or 3.4 and my test was around 78-80...I really can't remember exactly but I was told that the essay plays a large role as well. When I got accepted into the LPN Program I was undecided as to whether I should take the seat or not simply because I have over 100 credit hours and I felt that I did not want to start from the bottom after taking ALL pre and co req's. I applied for several schools at one time so in my opinion I encourage you to do the same. My reasoning was because I have been denied so many times and you want to keep all options open. I was denied because I was not competetive enough as far as GPA and test scores. After praying and giving careful thought I decided accept the offer and go for it because I figure it this way, sometimes you have to take a step or two back to move forward and everything happens for a reason. The most important part is that I DID NOT give up or quit. People were always saying that I should change my career choice and my response was always "THAT'S NOT AN OPTION." I"ve worked to hard and came to far to guit and I've been working on this since 1991. My passion is there and because 5 doors closed one finally opened and it was DAVENPORT and I thank GOD for this opportunity......:) wow was I going on and on or what:nurse: as you can imagine I am happy...so I say to you apply for BOTH and keep those grades up up up! You will do fine, don't stress about it..pray about it and let it go! I hope that I have answered your questions. Please feel free to alert me anytime I love talking NURSE LOL

Msrenee for some reason I am just now seeing this post! My alerts come to my phone as well but I guess I missed this one :) Anyhow, Im glad to hear that you love the program!! I am hoping to be joining you in one of those programs this upcoming year. I do plan to apply to a lot of schools and I'm hoping that someone gives me a chance the first time around. I can only imagine how hard it is to have to go through the denials. Did Davenport only use the classes required for their program towards your GPA or did they use your overall GPA in all of your classes?
