I've finished all my prerequisites and passed my TEAS!! I'm applying for the summer '15 program at Darton.. Anyone else??? Also any advice from current students or grads??
For fundamentals I say read, and start asking yourself "why". Other than that it's pretty straight forward. Be sure to practice lots of math problems. Pharm is just memorizing meds and what they do, how they're use... etc. Summer is intense because of the time. Be ready to learn and learn fast. You can do it! Good Luck!
Hi tmcghee, I was accepted into Darton fall 2015 nursing program and would like to know more about their program. What should I read this summer and go over to prepare myself for my first two nursing classes? If there is any other information that I need to be prepared for, please let me know. Thank you in advance.
Hey ashden. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply to you, this last summer semester is keeping me busy. First of all CONGRATS on your acceptance into nursing school. Welcome to Darton! As far as preparation goes I say honestly enjoy the time that you have now. Not meaning to scare you, but your entire life is about to change. Diving into nursing school takes a lot out of you so being mentally prepared is a GREAT start. Other than that there's not much more you can do to prepare yourself. Good Luck, and YOU CAN DO IT!
hi NurseMika2b, I was accepted into Darton nursing program and I wanted to know how your classes are going. How is fundamentals and pharm going? Are the professors willing to assist you with questions?
Hello! Sorry I didn't mean to send such a short reply and sorry so late. Congratulations on your acceptance! My classes started off really good. I came in with high spirits, read every chapter, and reviewed every night. I scored high on my first exams but it really wore me out and it showed on my next exam. So study as much as you can but try to break it up into increments to avoid that burn out feeling. The teachers are willing to help and assist you, but you really have to make yourself study and review it on your own. Because when it's testing time it's just you and that exam. So do the assigned readings, review the objectives, know the terminology, practice your skills, and practice your dosage calculations every night. And take breaks where you can.
And when you get stressed out remember why you started in the first place. When you're caring for patients all they want is to feel better, to be able to trust you, and know that you know what you're doing. And you will know and be confident because you would've already put in that hard work studying in class to save their life in reality.
I hope this helps!
Hi, I ended up declining my admission to Darton because I got accepted to Middle Georgia State University nursing BSN program. Its a lot closer to where I live. I'm in my second semester now and it's going well. I will tell you Darton college seem a lot more organized once you get accepted they give you a website tell you everything you need by the first day of class. My advice to you would be study like you have never studied. The nursing questions are very different from core classes they put you in a situation and you have to figure out the best answer. Though you probably won't have to study as much with the ASN program I studied sometime 10 plus hours a day my first semester. Hope this helps!

Congrats to those of you who got accepted to Darton. Welcome to nursing school. I'm a current senior in the program. (I finish in July!) As far as the workload, I'll be honest its HARD, but doable! Take great notes, be ready to really THINK, and make friends ASAP. Very few people survive nursing school trying to do it all on their own. Good luck! If anyone any questions feel free to ask.
