Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, TX

U.S.A. Texas

Hello!

I was recently hired @ Dallas Regional Medical Center. I am not from the area, nor Texas, and I would love to hear thoughts about the hospital & the city of Mesquite. As a young, single female, I would like to live in a comfortable area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm from Mesquite, currently in nursing school about 1 1/2 away in Tyler. Mesquite used to be a nice city. My parents and grandparents still live there. I don't plan on moving back. My friend's father is a policeman there, and he moved his family out. He recommends Forney or further out.

As for Dallas Regional, it doesn't have a good rep. There was a big whoopdedoo a few years ago where some nurses walked out or something because of unsafe pt:staff ratios. Not sure if things have improved since.

I'd like to recommend Mesquite because it has a special place in my heart, but I really think you should consider other areas in DFW.

Wow! It is very difficult finding a nursing job for new grads in DFW, I've accepted the position, so we'll see. I hope I like the hospital. Thank you so much!

I really hope you do, too. And if you do choose to live in Mesquite, I was told the Poteet area is the safest.

Rockwall is not too far from Mesquite and it is a lovely city. There are also plenty of places in Dallas that you would enjoy living at that caters to young singles. The commute from Dallas would not be too bad in the morning, as you will be going the opposite way of traffic.

I did clinicals at DRMC-Mesquite and I really enjoyed the staff where I was. I don't know much about other areas.

As for the city of Mesquite, it's...not that nice, sorry...check further out East, like in Forney/Terrell etc, for living situations.

I also did my clinical there. I would not want to work there. Sometime they had 8 pts..not safe.
