hello, does anyone have any information on the dallas nursing institute?
so here is a question, . . .what do you like about concorde? i am trying to decide between concorde and dallas nursing inst. are the instructors knowledgable???? do you recommend it ????
well, i thought that my instructor at concorde was lazy, but there is no reason you could not complete the program. i do quite a bit full-time, mom, student, employee, homemaker, etc. my biggest concerns, are length of the program, commuting hours, and childcare.
concorde required that i rely on other people way to much, to be successful. it was too far from where i live. i have only one other family member that lives in dallas, and he was taking me school. there is no way that would have lasted a year.
I would not get too caught in what the instructors know, you are really going to learn your stuff on the job. I would place more emphasis on what the preceptor at your job is going to teach you. There were people at concorde about to finish, and they did not know how to do vital signs, but I am so sure there were other classes that had great skills.
you should graduate with basic nursing knowledge and be able to handle a normal set of patients on a med-surg floor. this is minus the unit paper work and policy and procedures cause they are different everywhere. anyone about to graduate that don't know how to take vitals has no business graduating... sorry but they should have never made it anywhere near graduation.

i am not going to blame a nurse because she did not get the education that she paid for. i'm not going to blame the school either. i met some really great people there.
do i want a nurse that i am working w/ to know how to take vitals? yes, but again, some people are not 100 percent on all of the basic skills, when they get that diploma. sorry, that is the truth.
some of those nurses do go on to become great nurses, and do care enough to learn those skills w/ more practice.

are you currently working as an lvn/lpn? i am currently going to school at uta and as of right now i have taken nursing concepts( i learned that nursing has theory's) i am not blaming the school . .but i desire to be a nurse and have you ever felt like nothing was going right in that quest?
Well I start nights/weekends in September at DNI and I surely hope it will be for me. It has to be, actually. I work full-time, have bills to pay--how else is one supposed to get a degree (and not wait 2 years for acceptance?) This is what I want to do and I am determined to git er done.
Hopefully i will be right behind you in going to this school . .congrads:balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons:
I checked into the them a month or so ago. I tried their website, but no matter when I went over a two month period it was always closed due to repairs or something. Anyway, I called them and they were EXPENSIVE. I then started asking advisers at the different colleges what they had heard about them. I was told they have a very negative rep at the hospitals in the area. I don't why, but thats what I was told.
Yes, they are quite expensive. I have a financial aid meeting, and man I felt like a warm body worth 19,000.. They are in a hurry to get everyone in for the Fall. They might need open a new location.
I wonder why they have a bad rap. I heard the same thing about Platt, but they were so professional when I went there.

well of course they "have a bad rep." other schools want YOU! and they will do whatever to get YOUR money, even if that means trash talking about other schools. they are all expensive; as far as I know, DNI is less than Concorde. I will be starting at DNI Sept 4th and I am excited and confident that is the best place for me.
