"We are overjoyed to announce that, as of yesterday evening, officials at Emory University Hospital and the Centers for Disease Control are no longer able to detect the virus in her body. She has also been approved for transfer from isolation," the family said.
Vinson was Duncan's nurse during the time he was hospitalized for Ebola at the Dallas hospital where she works. After Duncan passed away on October 8th, Vinson was diagnosed with the virus thereafter. Another colleague of Vinson's, who also treated Duncan at the hospital, Nina Pham, contracted the ravaging virus and is currently being cared for at a medical facility in Maryland.

Interesting that Amber is declared cured before Nina, when Nina was diagnosed and entered treatment first.

I wondered about that as well. The below article reports that depending how the virus was transmitted, how quickly treatment began and your immune system are possible factors regarding recovery time. See full article on website.
Why Has Nurse Amber Vinson Recovered From Ebola So Quickly? - NBC News
Looks like they're both cured now. Yay!!
Yay!!
I am pleased to hear that both Amber Vinson and Nina Pham no longer have traces of Ebola virus disease in their bloodstreams. After working in the battlefield better known as the unprepared hospital, they still prevailed with their health intact.

Does anyone know which strain of Ebola these women contracted? Zaire, Sudan, or the other ones I can't spell? I've also heard some say that those who have survived Ebola now have an immunity against it, but does that extend to the other strains that they had not originally have?
