Dallas NICU's: Gimme the scoop? :)

Hello! :)

I was wondering if anyone has any input about Dallas area NICU's? I am looking for travel contracts currently, but am aiming to ATTEMPT to move to Dallas permanantly within the next year or so. ANY information would be tremendously appreciated!

Specifically, I'm wondering about the higher-acuity, Level III+ Neonatal Intensive Care units at the various hospitals, moreso than Stepdown/Well-Baby units.

Have you worked there? Have friends there? If they have a referral program, I'd be thrilled to mention someone by name when the time comes. Know of anyone who's received relocation assistance? Bonuses? (I can hear you laughing now...stop that!) Etc.

Well you have several to choose from. I will list the bigger Level III NICU's:

Presbyterian Dallas

Baylor Dallas

Methodist Medical Center

Parkland Memorial

Childrens Medical Center

Medical City Childrens

There are also several smaller NICUs in the surrounding Dallas area as well:

Charlton Methodist

Baylor Garland

Medical Center of Lewisville

Presbyterian Plano

Medical Center of Plano

I'm sure I have left some off of this list. There are A LOT of hospitals in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area which equals a lot of NICUs. All the larger NICUs pretty much have all the same capabilities. They will all have a "different feel and culture." If you have travel assignments maybe you could travel to several of them and then decide where you fit best.

If Dallas doesn't work out for you there is always Ft. Worth. There are several large Level III NICUs as well. Cook Childrens is expanding their NICU to over a 100 all-private rooms. I think it is scheduled to open later this year or early next year. Its supposed to be a well-designed unit.

Good luck!

Wow! Thank you for that list! I really appreciate that. It's so difficult, sorting through random websites when you're not living there yet!

THANK YOU. :)
