Dallas Childrens Nurse Residency July Cohort 2018

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hey! I just wanted to get a thread started for people applying to Children's Health in Dallas for the July cohort!

Thank you! General pediatrics and hematology oncology!

When is everyone interviewing??

I actually called the recruiter this morning to ask if there was an update on when candidates would be notified and she said they were finalizing and notices would be out today and tomorrow. Then this evening I received an email and I have an interview with PICU for Friday, March 9th. I also heard from a classmate that rejection letters started being sent out on Monday, so I guess no news is good news. Good luck everyone!

I got 3 interviews with them, I am so excited!!! Does anyone know how many they take for each unit? I really want the PICU but am nervous its going to be super super competitive...

I believe the amount varies by department!

Has anyone heard of what the interview is like?

I tried to look back at previous threads but couldn't find much!

I would think it would be your normal "tell me about yourself, etc" and they ALWAYS ask behavioral questions! You can look up "behavior based interview questions" to help familiarize yourself :) Usually it's not going to be one-on-one it'll be a panel of people generally ranging from 3-6.

Questions I've had recently were:

1) How did you handle an issue with a co-worker or colleague?

2)When did you make a mistake and how did you handle it/address it?

To give you an idea

Also they asked questions about how I dealt with an unhappy family, delegating patient care, Scenarios on if a patiet came through the door with these symptoms what you would anticipate happening and what the had!

hope that helps!

Did anyone else get a call that they changed the date and time of their interview??

I am sure that someone needed to switch times so they switched you to a different day! I wouldn't worry about it!

If anyone had interviews yesterday, how were they?

@nursegal96 Hey! Don't even worry- everyone is SO KIND! A lot of it was more of a conversation. I think they want to see how well you will fit into their unit. You are going to do great!
