Hi everyone! Has anyone else here applied for Cypress Spring 2018?
I put in my application on the Sept. 1 and submitted my documents as well. I should have 30 points so I'm hoping I have a good chance at getting in. The lady at the window said that they will let us know "after we've gone through all the applications"
Does anyone know what TEAS test were are supposed to study for? I think I remember the counselor saying it was TEAS version 6, but I'm not certain. I feel like I should already start studying for it since I really need to brush up on math.
About the uniform, does the top need to have collar?? And what do they mean that scrub are not permited. Do zipper and snap front work?? Do we need to buy the exact Cherokee style number they suggested?Anyone bought the uniform already can you give me some advice
I believe that we need to get the exact style number listed.
Where do you buy your uniform and stethoscope? How's about patches? And did anyone make appointment for the medical examination at the Cypress health center??
Hi.
I went on Amazon and typed in the style number for the top and a couple different shirts came up. They were one number off from the style number given in the packet, but they looked similar to the shirts worn by the students during the orientation. The brand was cherokee. They were about $17-19 each. I bought two.
The patches we have to buy on family night. I think the paper says bring cash. $8 for a badge and $4 for a patch. They said they recommended at least 3 for two tops and a sweater or lab coat. I also bought a white sweater on Amazon for $20. The pants are a different story cause of how they said no scrubs. I looked up previous years discussion boards on this website and one girl said as long as they aren't see through then it's fine. I also read on the previous message board that someone recommended a shop in the Buena Park mall because the lady knows what the cypress students need. I haven't gone there yet.
As for the health center, I went last week to make my appointment. You can also call. The lady said they will start the nursing physicals the week of Jan 15.

Do you think the top need to have collar? I found the style they want us to buy in Kay uniform, the material is so stiff and even an X-small still too big for me. I bought another one with the zipper, not see thru, material is softer and fit me better, but they dont have a collar so i dont know it's allow or not. Oh, about the sweater, can you give me the link. Can it be any material and style as long as it's white??

I'm not sure about the collar. I just remember during the orientation, the professor said button up top for women and zipper for men. But I think someone earlier in this post said they saw one female student had a zipper top. You would probably need to ask the instructor to be sure. I am petite and the x small was slightly big on me too and the material is stiff and a little rough, but I'm just gonna wash it a few times with laundry softener and hope it gets better. I just wanted to be safe and got whatever it said on the paper.
The paper just says white sweater or lab coat. It didn't give any other instructions or details. "Adar Indulgence Womens Jr. Fit Multi Pocket Warm-Up Scrub Jacket" is what I got on Amazon. It's slightly thin, but it's soft and it had good reviews and was only 20 when I bought it and they had an xx-small which fit me. I think you can probably find something a little thicker and nicer for a little bit more money.
Have you guys purchased your books yet? I've been kinda lagging on that since they are so expensive. Did you purchase from where they recommended on the handout?
I haven't bought any of the books yet (waiting for my next paycheck), but I did look them up and already decided on purchasing all online editions (through either kindle or google books...price is the same). Yeah, it's pricey...I think my total with all online edition comes out to about $630 (this is including docucare 6months, and taylor and lynn coursepoints). I've only paid for castlebranch so far...and I even did the payment plan with that. I'll be doing the payment plan with all the lippincott texts as well.
I'm hoping to get financial aid, so that's one of the reasons I'm putting it all off for now. I haven't registered for classes yet either...haha. I just left my job too to start school, so income will be slim. Ugh...
All the money will be worth it in the long run!!

P.S. I recommend digital editions because they're searchable. It helps a lot with care-planning when you need to look up things fast on limited time.
Hey all accepted people!
I was wondering if you all would be interested if I started a facebook group for our Spring semester group. We had that for the other program I was in, and it was pretty awesome. Let me know what you think. Not sure if everyone uses facebook. I already told CNSA I was interested in being a class rep, and that's one of the easiest ways to get the info out. :)

Yeah, I'm hoping financial aid will help me out too! I can't afford to quit my job though, so I am hoping to be able to work 20 hours a week. I guess we shall see how that pans out!
