Curry College Spring 2022 Milton

Published

Hi! Haven't seen anyone post yet about the Curry College 2022 ACCEL program and wanted to start a thread. I was accepted at the beginning of September (no clue if that means I was waitlisted or if they were just late this year) but I was curious if anyone on here had also gotten in! I can't find a facebook group for it yet but wanted to connect with people in my class.

Hi all! Thanks for creating this thread, Faith. I have been accepted to the Spring 2022 cohort, as well. I am also waiting to hear back from another school, but I plan on attending Curry if that falls through. I'd love to hear more about the schedule, as well. I know initially the information session says it tends to be 4 days/week (2 part-time days and 2 full days), so it's interesting that you heard it would be 3 full days instead. I actually would prefer 3 days so I don't have to drive out as much, but we'll see. I'd also be interested if they are doing more hybrid/online courses because of Covid. Do you all live close to Milton?

I never heard about the 4 days for the Spring semester, I only have seen 3 full days, so you're right that it's interesting! I live about 30 minutes from campus!

Did any of you get confirmation from the nursing program when you submitted your deposit?

I live about 20 minutes from campus! Yes, I received a confirmation email for my deposit yesterday. The email also said I will receive more information for our cohort after September 30th.

Also, I noticed on Curry’s website that they opened the application deadline again to November 15th.

Hm I did not get an email, I should check with them.

Interesting about the deadline change! I believe the cohort is 30ish people, I wonder how many slots are still open.

I received a receipt of my payment right away and the it took about 10 days to receive the confirmation from the nursing department so I’m sure you’re all set as long as you submitted it.

Oh that's good to know, thanks! I can't wait to start getting information on the program.

I also received a receipt confirmation right away but didn’t get an official confirmation from the school until yesterday. It’ll probably be coming soon if you haven’t gotten the email yet.

Has anyone heard feedback/reviews from actual graduates of this program or even current students? I’ve found so little information from students of the Curry ABSN program and I’m not sure why - so many other schools have people who review the program or give at least some feedback about what works and what hasn’t been ideal. I honestly don’t know what to expect in many regards.

I have not! It is so hard to find anything. There is a thread from the 2021 Milton start date on this website that you could likely comment on and hear what the students thought about it?

I just commented on that thread and got a super detailed answer from someone, I will copy it here

"Hi huge congrats!! I started last Spring so I’m a little more than halfway through at this point. Overall my opinion of the program is positive. It has been unorganized at times but I think part of that has to do with the pandemic, regardless you are sort of just expected to go with the flow and that is what it is. Education wise I think I learned more in my first semester than I ever learned in my undergrad combined and other than a couple of professors I have found them all to be knowledgeable and passionate about the topics. I was personally torn between the UMass Boston program and Curry and I can now say I made the right choice. My Clinical's have been at some of the top hospitals in Boston, and I was able to network through them to get a PCA job at one of them this semester when I otherwise probably wouldn’t have been able to get one there. Additionally I have heard several times from nurses on the floor that Curry nursing students are some of the best during clinical which was a pleasant surprise for me. To be completely blunt, I wouldn’t go with any of the other accelerated programs in the Boston area unless you get a hefty scholarship or you go to UMass Boston (because it is the cheapest one) simply because the other programs are a lot more expensive and there’s really no reason to spend the extra money on a program like this if you can avoid it. Best of luck wherever you end up, going back for nursing was the best decision I’ve ever made even though it’s difficult it’s very doable if you’re determined." -Nrd

First off thank you for seeking this information. I have a co worker who went to Curry’s traditional nursing school and she too had only positive things to say about the program. She said it is one of the best nursing programs in the Boston area, so that’s very reassuring.Do you think this person would give you a general answer about days he had to attend class too.

Thank you for reaching out and posting the response! This is really helpful especially because I was torn between UMass Boston and curry as well. I decided curry is the best fit for me as it’s in person (thus far). Curry has a great reputation for nursing so I’m hoping this also applies to the ACCEL program.

You should check out the thread, a few more posts have popped up about experience! I asked about classes so hopefully they reply!
