Hey Everyone!
I didn't see a thread started for this years round of applications to the 2019 CU UCAN program at Anschutz so I decided to create one! I have submitted my application, has anyone else? Now I am just waiting to hear back!
I saw that groups in the past have met up prior to the interview to help with pre-interview jitters and to get to know one another. I would definitely be interested in doing that as well.
I think we should hear back by sometime in July. Also did anyone get the email about the new CASPer test you have to take if you get selected for an interview?
I'd love to talk to people applying this year!

Hi Caitlin!
I applied to the UCAN program as well! I think we should hear at the end of June if we are selected for a interview- at least that's when people on the 2018 UCAN thread posted that they heard back.

We heard back about interviews by 6/30 and I received my final admissions decision on 8/24.

I applied to CU's UCAN program as well! I am so gosh darn nervous, waiting to hear back from schools is the worst part!!! After reading some previous years threads I am worried I my application isn't competitive enough, but there's no harm in trying. Still nothing, but its only been on business day since the deadline so I guess I will just remain patient haha.

Thank you for offering your advice and insight into the process! Do you mind me asking what your stats were? I might be psyching myself out, but reading previous threads got me even more stressed out....
My stats:
First degree was biology and communications/Pr. So I actually didn't jump into healthcare right away.
Prerequisite GPA 4.0 (I retook classes that I hadn't taken in years, such as A&P and statistics). They take your highest grade when looking at repeated courses.
Background: 5 years experience as a pharmacy tech, CNA, ER tech, ICU tech, MA (this was after I spent about 3 years working in PR/agency work/Management and transitioned into medicine).
I had a lot of volunteer work on my resume from several causes I became involved in during my first career ... but any volunteerism looks great.
Don't be intimidated by medical experience; some in our cohort only have hospital volunteer experience, as in they didn't ever touch patients until nursing school. Also, not everyone has an uber-Science background, and the non-science majors do just as well if not better at times.
Has anyone heard anything yet?!

Hi there,
I applied to the program as well. I am also curious if anyone has heard back regarding interviews.
As of today, I have not heard anything from CU. I am SO nervous I may not be selected because I have very little volunteer work and it sounds like that is a very important part of the application. Well....We'll see!
Wishing everyone the best of luck!
Hey everyone! I also have not heard anything yet. If you read above it sounds like last years cohort was notified 6/30/18! They also added the CASPER test to the application this year which is new. The first test date for the casper test was listed as 7/8/18 so I would imagine that everyone would know by then!
