CSUSB BSN Fall 2020

Published

Hello everyone,

I wanted to create this forum so we could share stats, ask/answer questions, and talk about the admissions process. When I went to the past informational meeting they said the following stats were for the past year admittance:

  1. Average overall GPA: 3.7
  2. Average Pre-Req GPA: 3.53
  3. Average Overall TEAS: 85.5%
  4. 300 qualify for application review and 45-50 are accepted

My stats are

  1. Overall GPA: 3.843
  2. Pre-Req GPA: 3.861 (assuming I end Bio 223 with an A which is what I have right now)
  3. TEAS: 87.3%
  4. Bilingual
  5. County Resident

Has anyone received any information regarding the orientation yet?

Thanks! I just registered! See you all next week!

Does anyone have any idea of how many clinical/ lab days we will have this semester? Trying to plan out work now....

Hey, guys! I'm currently a student completing the nursing prerequisites at a local community college. One thing I'm not understanding is that before you can apply to the nursing program, you have to be accepted as a prenursing student.

Let's say I apply this fall to transfer to CSUSB next fall. It looks like they start accepting people in March, but the nursing application is usually done in JAN/FEB. How does that work? Does that mean I wouldn't be able to apply for the fall nursing program and instead have to apply to Spring 2022?

No, you can apply for the fall 2021 nursing department term as long as you have met the prerequisite requirements by the time the fall 2021 application is opened.

For example:

Fall 2020- apply to csusb as a pre-nursing student for the fall 2021 term.

Winter/ early Spring 2021- you will find out if you were accepted into the university as a pre-nursing student.

Spring 2021- application for the nursing department opens up for fall 2021

When completing your university application they just want you to indicate that you would like to be admitted as a pre-nursing/nursing student.

Specializes in Pre-Nursing Student.

So, transfer students need to be done with their prereqs when they apply this year Fall 2020 for next year's cohort? I heard CSUSB allows one or two prereqs to be in progress when you apply.. is that true?

Yes, I had two in progress at the time of applying. Details should be on the admissions page of the nursing department.

Hey guys!

I missed the first 45 mins of the orientation due to work. Can someone fill me in on anything important I missed? When I joined we were on page 18 of the BSN student handbook and discussing about using blackboard. Any information would be very appreciated!

I am really hoping somebody on this thread can help me since my counselors or the CSUSB department are not giving me answers.
I will be transferring from SBVC to CSUSB for nursing. Do we have to be a prenursing student there first? Or be accepted as one? If so how would we even get into nursing in the first place since I am a transfer and CSUSB said they are not taking pre nursing students right now. Also, they added BIOCHEM as a prereq effective FALL 2021. If you have to sit and wait do you still need to take it? I really hope someone replies to this. Thank you and CONGRATS to all!

I was a transfer student as well. You have to apply to the university in the application period October-November as a pre-nursing student. Since nursing is an impacted major you can only apply during this period. When you fill out the CSU application you will select pre-nursing then the university will review that you have the GPA and requirements completed to be determined a pre-nursing student. After you are accepted as a pre-nursing major you will complete the second application which is directly to the nursing department. You will attend an info session, complete the application, turn in your TEAS results, transcripts, etc.. and then you wait to see if you make it into the program. I would recommend reaching out to your transfer center to get help completing the CSU application. This is my IG @marisol_mp just in case you have more q's. I check my IG more than I check this page LOL!
