Hi everyone,
CSUN's application is now open for Fall 2020 ABSN admissions. I just wanted to create a thread for comments, questions, information, and more!
Best of luck to everyone ?

"Accounting for the number of applications received this time around and with the current pandemic, the Department is anticipating that this will happen in mid-to-late July this year"
This is so upsetting. I know there is so much going on but it’s hard to have some of our hugest life decisions just hanging in the balance with very little communication and such short notice.

Yeah it really is. CSUN has been really bad at communicating, they haven’t sent us an email and addressed COVID at all. I’m on the east coast and have received decisions from schools that I applied to less than a month ago.
I did read this in a few articles regarding CSUs:
There also will be “limited exceptions” for courses across the 23-campus system that can’t be delivered virtually, such as essential lab courses and clinical classes for nursing students, White said. Those classes will have restrictions, such as social distancing and fewer students.
I received an email yesterday from the financial aid department regarding "temporary enrollment protections". Basically while they are processing the financial aid application, I won't be required to pay any fees/tuition. I don't think this has anything to do with the status of my actual application - I think it's just been generically sent to all students/applicants in their system. Figured I'd share nonetheless.

When did you receive it? I didn’t get anything ?

Was it in your CSUN email or your regular email? I didn't receive anything either.

Hi. Was it email or was it this on the CSUN portal? I did'nt receive an email either, but saw this on my portal. Was also wondering what form of communication you received.

I received the same email too. Through the Csun email.
Yes it was through the CSUN email, I received it yesterday evening.
"While your financial aid application is in process, we have placed temporary enrollment protection* on your file until your application has been reviewed. At this time, you DO NOT have to make a tuition/fee payment and your classes will not be dropped.
Once your financial aid eligibility has been determined, you will receive an email sent to your CSUN email account and your enrollment protection will be removed. Please make sure to review your award at that time and confirm your financial aid is enough to cover your current or future charges.
If you have already paid your tuition and fees using your own funds, you may disregard this notice.
IMPORTANT
If you are no longer planning to attend CSUN, it is your responsibility to drop your classes prior to the start of the semester. Failure to do so will result in an obligation to pay fees.
For questions about housing payment deadlines, please visit the Housing website.
*Enrollment Protection means your classes will not be dropped due to non-payment. This is not a guarantee you will receive financial aid but it will allow time for our department to determine what aid you may be eligible to receive."
Did everyone file for FAFSA for this program specifically? I think if you did not, you would not receive this email as there would be no application for the financial aid office to review.
I strongly suspect this has nothing to do with the actual admission decisions/process.

Ah okay, thank you for sharing! I actually didn't file for FAFSA so that might be the reason why I didn't get an email. Hopefully... haha.
