CSULB Spring 2023 BSN

Published

Hello guys,

I am currently a pre-nursing student at CSULB, and I just applied to the nursing program for Spring 2023. I created this thread so that we can compare scores to see how competitive it is to get in to the program.

Here are my stats:

Overal GPA: 4.0 = 2pts

Science GPA: 4.0 = 4pts

TEAS Overall: 90.0 = 1.8pts

TEAS Reading: 83.5= 1.67

Overall impact score: 9.46 pts

Thank you for reading this thread!

@tryinghard893

Unfortunately, I did not receive the letter to the communication exercise last Fall.

@captain_potato12When you sent out the application as a pre-nursing student at CSULB, did you receive a confirmation email of receiving the application?

@Yoyotiny

No, I did not receive a confirmation email.

Okie, thank for the confirmation.

Good luck to everyone who has their communication exercise today!

Hey guys, I saw that the Spring deadline for submitting initial transcripts is October 31st from the Steps for Newly Admitted Transfers Page. However, we don't hear back until around that time or early November, so does that mean the deadline doesn't apply to us?

I have no idea, maybe try emailing them and see what they say! I’m curious now too LOL

Currently I have a B in physiology. Do you guys think I should drop the course with a W or continue with a B? And for the GE GPA do they only take in the GE pre-req courses or is it your overall GPA because I took CHEM A130 which isn't a requirement and got a B. Thank you any information would be nice

Do you guys think I should take a B in physiology or drop with a W. Nervous to wreck my science GPA by taking a B in physiology.

Also for the GE GPA are they only taking the GE pre req courses for that GPA or are they using all GE courses we took ?

I think a B is better than a W but def check w others!

Just to double check everyone who was invited to the interview has to attend the orientation right? I got their email but nowhere did it say anything about the waitlist

Depends on which semester you’re applying for. Fall is way more competitive than Spring so I would calculate your impaction score with that B and whatever you think you’d score on the TEAS (try taking a practice one to get an idea of the score you’d get). You calculate it like this:

(Science GPA) + (Gen ED GPA/2) + (TEAS Overall x .02) + (TEAS Reading x .02)

For fall I would say you want at least a 9.5 to be highly considered. Spring you can probably get in with a 9.3-9.4. I had one B in philosophy so I was scared to wreck my GPA but I did well on the TEAS with a 92.7 overall and a 97.4 on my reading and it was able to boost my impaction score to a 9.7. Also, if you’re a veteran it will boost your GPA a tenth of a point and give you local preference.

I think for general admission they take your complete Gen ED GPA but for the school of nursing they only look at the required prerequisites. ?

I think so! Try emailing them to double check. But it would make sense to go to the orientation in case they offer you a spot since it’s mandatory and there aren’t any other ones. ?

Also, when you go to take your TEAS, take it twice (1 month in between)! You get the exact same test so if you can remember what you missed, you’ll be able to do better the next time.
