CSULB Spring 2023 BSN

Published

Hello guys,

I am currently a pre-nursing student at CSULB, and I just applied to the nursing program for Spring 2023. I created this thread so that we can compare scores to see how competitive it is to get in to the program.

Here are my stats:

Overal GPA: 4.0 = 2pts

Science GPA: 4.0 = 4pts

TEAS Overall: 90.0 = 1.8pts

TEAS Reading: 83.5= 1.67

Overall impact score: 9.46 pts

Thank you for reading this thread!

I think a B is better than a W but def check w others!

Just to double check everyone who was invited to the interview has to attend the orientation right? I got their email but nowhere did it say anything about the waitlist

Did your orientation email state that you were placed as an alternate?

Does anyone know the time and location for orientation because my email just shows the date?

No mine said they couldn’t offer me a place but said nothing about being an alternate which was why I was confused because in the meeting they said everyone there had to attend orientation.

Is anyone else on the alternate list? If so, have you gotten any updates?

I did but their answer was very vague ? so for now I’ll just be going to orientation oblivious of my status haha

see you tomorrow! ?

hey guys

Recently I got an 88 on my physiology grade. Do you guys think a B in Physiology would hurt my chances of getting in ? And I have my TEAS next month in January any studying tips or advice for the TEAS ?

Hey there! One B won’t hurt you, just aim really high for the TEAS! I had a B in Philosophy but was able to get a 9.7 impaction score with a 92.7 composite and 97.4 reading. Try to get at least a 90%! For the TEAS, I recommend Carolyn McAllister on YouTube for the reading/ELU sections. She explains everything really well and warns you of questions that will try to trick you. Definitely focus on digestive and reproductive, I feel like they tested heavy on those. I also recommend taking the TEAS twice. More than likely you’ll get the same test (just try and remember what you had issues with so you can study it before the second test). I was able to increase my reading like 4% and my overall 4% which made my impaction score go from a 9.5 to a 9.7. Have you taken any practice tests?

Also, remember you can only apply to CSULB twice. Applying for Spring is wayyyy less competitive!

I'm going to buy 2 ATI TEAS practice exams and take them, but do you have any other tips for how to study the science portion ? As well as what method did you use like quizlet or anything? Thank You

I’m gonna be honest I didn’t really study and I watched the Carolyn McAllister videos the morning of my test LOL. But I would suggest getting like an overall study pamphlet thing off Amazon that covers the main things in each system. Study which hormones do what in each system as well. Quizlet has always been an amazing source, though!
