CSUCI Fall 2020

Published

Starting a thread for those applying to CSUCI for the Fall 2020 cohort. Channel Islands is my first choice as I am a pre-nursing student there and I love the school. Very nervous about this as they will be doing interviews this time around plus we don't exactly know what their scoring criteria is.

My Stats:

TEAS 85.3%

4.0 GPA

over 200 hours of volunteer time

current CSUCI student

Good luck to everyone who is applying. Let us know if you have any more information on their selection process.

Hello all,

For those invited to the interview, anyone have pointers on how to prepare for it? I am not very quick to think of things to say, typically don't have a good response formulated until the interview is over! It seems that doing some mock zoom interviews with friends is a good way to make use of the shelter in place time. Any other tips and advice are certainly welcome.

This site seems to give a lot of good advice:

Hope that help and hope everyone is doing OK and staying clear of the Corona virus.

Hello there! CONGRATS on getting the invite for the interview. The link you provided was very helpful to read! Thank you for providing that. I am honestly not very quick and answering on my toes as well, but I don't think that is a bad thing. I think it is OK to absorb the question, ponder about it to formulate an answer, and then respond. I think it shows a more genuine factor rather than saying the first thing that pops in your head. Obviously thinking about an answer for a super long period of time isn't good neither but somewhere in the middle is OK, and I think preparing for the interview would definitely help with those tips listed in the link you provided ?

My boyfriend helps me out with mock interviews via zoom to help me get used to the feeling since I have never done an interview via my laptop LOL. What helps me out also is just practicing in front of a mirror and talking to myself (I know a bit crazy LOL).

Hi All,

I think interviews are over. How are people feeling about it? Seemed to go OK for me. Time really flew by. I did not know there would be four other candidates interviewed at the same time. I guess we will find out next week???!???

It totally flew by for me as well. I definitely did not expect it to be a group interview LOL; but that made things a little less intense for me. The interviewers were nice and made the whole process enjoyable. I hope everyone did well ? Now we play the wait game til next week!

Hello future nurses! Emails are out regarding admission! I received my acceptance letter this morning 8:30!! I will be declining my offer since I’ve received acceptance to another SON. So hopefully someone on the waiting list has an opportunity to get admitted now ? Goodluck and congratulations for all who made it!

Congratulations to all who got in! I was put in the alternate list and am #6. ?

Hello Alll! CONGRATS on everything! I understand what an amazing feat being asked to interview and being accepted is!

Quick question to those of you who made it to interviews and/or acceptance.

I emailed them because I had a few questions and they told me what number I was

Hi all!! I'm interested in applying for Fall 21 but super confused about the proficiency in second language requirement. What did you all do?

What I did was take a CLEP exam for the foreign language and then send the scores to the SON. I registered through the CLEP website. Good luck on the application process :)
