CSU San Marcos absn 2009

U.S.A. California

Hello,

I am new here to allnurses.com so bear with me. I was wondering if anyone applied to the absn program at CSU San Marcos for summer 2009? Have you heard anything back yet?

if you're checking out the temecula campus, I'd fly out of Ontario...it's usually cheaper, and it's an easier airport to navigate from....SD can be a mess at times.....

aww thanks for the heads up!

Hey guys, how are you planning to finance school? I took about two grand in loans on my first degree, i think i have a lot more left to borrow, which i really will need...but i haven't gotten anything from the school nor financial aid so I'm a little bit worried...i'd prefer federal loans with the cheaper rate, but i guess if worse comes to worse i can go for private student loans but even then most places won't let you borrow until you prove to them you are attending school...ie class schedule and registration...so i feel like im in nowhere land...

oh..and do we have to bring anything to orientation? right now i'm just guessing i can dress pretty casually and just bring a notebook with a pen...

hey jimmy, im on the same boat you are, i dont know what to expect on paying for school and its scary because im pretty much depending on loans!!! as i understand it, since we are 2nd bachelors students we arent eligible for free financial aid... but we can get federal loans. I talked to one of the counselors at CSUSM and they said that they wont process our FAFSA until we register for classes, which according to him is about a week before classes start. He said in the mean time that our fees would be deferred, but that isnt much comfort for me just cuz I cant even apply for private loans until I find out how much im gonna get from the government. its scary!!! I hope they plan to spend a lot of time explaining how financial aid is gonna work because im with you in your nowhere land!!

im bringin coffee, a notebook, and a pen and whatever info for apartments after.

hehe...Sarah!...that's what i not wanted to hear! :crying2:

But at least im not alone!

Hey Jimmy,

OHhh I know how you feel! I keep getting these anxiety attacks of "I'm starting school in a month... how am I going to pay?" Or "I'm renting a house soon... where am I getting the rent money?!" I guess we just have to have faith that all will be answered at orientation. And hopefully orientation isn't just an episode of hidden camera!

I did just get a letter from wells fargo about private loans, so I'm thinking our FAFSA's must have gone through by now, and hopefully we'll be getting our packets soon.

Also I watched the orientation from July that was on the CSUSM website. I can't believe I sat through so much of it, because it's over two hours long, but I did get a better idea of what to expect. I think that we'll be able to order our scrubs, and I think we'll be going over immunizations and stuff and proving that we have health insurance. The orientation I watched though was at san marcos, and it was the regular BSN program, so again, who knows! I really don't think that it's worth dressing up for or anything, and probably a notebook, and maybe a folder or bag is good idea.

So my plan is that I'm driving down to SD on Tuesday (I have cousins there), driving up to Temecula Wednesday night and getting the cheapest hotel room I find. If anyone's around before orientation, let's get coffee!

dude... tell me about it.

amy, i know chase has student loans too. believe me, im gathering my options because im afraid of what im gonna get in terms of federal loans. it sucks cuz i was working full time all of last year (as many of us were im sure), so my yearly salary is gonna effect how much $$ i get. Not that i was living the sweet life... quite the opposite actually :) but still, im not gonna be working through school and im gonna need lots and lots of moolah! oy vey. i hope you are right and they have processed our FAFSA! where did you find the video of the orientation?

Hey all! So I've been checking out apartments online. So far, the "cheap" ones I'm planning to look at are:

-Temecula Gardens

-Sycamore Terrace

-The Arbors (in Murrieta)

-Waterstone (in Murrieta)

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I'm open to living outside of Temecula, as long as it's within 15-20minutes away. And I'm looking for a 1-2bedroom, depending on if I can find someone to live with me or not! lol. Thanks!

Hmm..I haven't done any legwork...but as long as it is around 400-500 range, i'd be game...although i seem to be more hopeful to find a house with a few classmates..it seems to be cheaper...

Ok, so i became proactive sorta, and started inquiring about a few places via email and also a few agents to maybe show us around of potential places. I figure none of us are really from around there so if we have an agent show us around it might make hte process a lot easier....

haha so aparently big brother is watching :) i just got the "financial aid email" from extended learning!! hopefully you all did too. i always feel so much better when i see that everyone is a freaked out as I am :D

:D i just got it too!
