CSU San Marcos ABSN Spring 2014

U.S.A. California

Welcome everyone!

This topic is open for those waiting, new applicants, curious individuals, etc. :)

I thought I was going to enter for the fall 2013 cohort (Temecula) but looks like it filled up before they ever evaluated my final set of transcripts. However, its good to know we all get at least 1-3 chances to find out. I figured we can all join in on how we are looking forward to being accepted for the spring 2014 cohort (San Marcos).

Has anyone received their orientation packet for those admitted into the Sp2014 Cohort?

I've read on past forums that a couple days after the intent to enroll deadline, you will receive your package on where to get your background and drug test done at. :)

Has anyone received their orientation packet for those admitted into the Sp2014 Cohort?

You won't be receiving an actual packet on mail; instead, you'll receive an email from CSUSM with an attachment of instructions and forms regarding the background check. In less than two weeks, you should then expect another email of instructions to apply to CSUSM-ABSN program. They haven't given an exact date for the orientation yet, but they mentioned that it'll be held sometime in the next two weeks of December.

Has anyone talked to someone from Financial Aid yet? It just hit me hard how fast the fees for the application adds up quickly; I can't imagine how to pay for tuition w/o financial aid. :(

Thanks laikaluna, I thought it was an actual package but good thing they're going tree-less for this. :) About financial aid, I was going to call CSU San Marcos and set up an appointment to talk to a financial aid officer. I know that tuition is not just our main concern. Books, school materials, etc add up like crazy! I've looked into using bank student loans as a means to cover the rest if I don't have enough. I am also continuing to work in the mean time to use my paycheck to cover textbooks, etc. I know it'll get harder as each semester gets intense but we will see how it goes. I hope its doable.

Thanks for the info!!! I just wish they'd send this info out as soon as you pay the $250 fee, ya know! :D

I hope not. I really hope that December won't be too late for spring admission. They do also have a summer term, so I guess it won't be too bad. I am just as anxious! Have you already submitted your application or are you waiting until you finish your class to begin?

I emailed them over the weekend, and this is what they responded: "In regards to the pre-nursing core courses, if you have courses in progress that are going to be completed by December, we will have on your advising worksheet that those courses will be in progress. However we would need those official grades posted and received by us in order to calculate your pre-nursing core GPA. Therefore, it is likely that your application would be for the Summer of 2014 or the Fall of 2014 once those courses are officially submitted to us depending on how many applicants we have for each semester"

So I guess we will have to wait until Summer, but June is really not that far away! :)

Yeah, not too far away. I have been reading through these forums and there are people who submitted their last transcripts in Dec and still were able to start in Jan. so we still may have a chance!

I got into the Spring 2014 Cohort at San Marcos a few weeks ago and just found this thread. Message me if anyone wants to get in touch before spring semester starts. I live near Oceanside, North County San Diego.

Has anyone set up a group facebook?

I just sent you a message on FB. You need to submit 15 posts before you can PM people on here. I'm having the same problem as well. Haha.
