CSU minimum age requirement?

Published

I have been researching online, even at the official site for CSU Long Beach's Nursing but I can't seem to see any information regarding their age requirement for the program. For the community college I am attending, minimum age requirement at the start of clinicals is 18, the legal age in CA. I just turned 20 this Aug 2014.

CSU's might have an age requirement of 21, but I hope you can shed light on this one. I'm just worried that once I am already at the process of doing my application to CSU long beach, they'll be saying "oh there is an min. age requirement for clinicals and ", so any insight will be appreciated. I believe that posting this here will be the speediest help I can get. Thanks

Interesting thing you brought that up. If they don't say, you could call the school and ask if they have a age requirement. You shouldn't have a problem though since you're over 18.

It actually just crossed my mind today. It's the weekend so no office for CSU long beach at this time, that's why I posted here so that I can have answers before Monday. Thanks for the speedy reply though, I appreciate it :)

I have a couple friends that started in a CSU program at 18. Think you'll be fine.

Specializes in ICU.

I have never heard of a program having an age requirement of 21. Once you are 18, you are legally considered an adult. You just can't drink alcohol. Lol.

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

Call the school if it makes you feel better and you want a direct answer. Plenty of my classmates (at a CSU) were under 21 and in clinicals. You are required to be at least 18 by law.

I attend a CSU and I'll be 19 when I start my clinicals. You should be fine :)
